Best Lift package for a 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 1500

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend the best lift package for a 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 1500? I’m looking at between a 4"-6” lift. Rancho and Superlift seem to the be two that have been top rated on many web searches. Does anyone have any past experiences on installation and performance.

BDS has my personal preference. If you want a bit taller Fabtech is a very good kit that will net closer to 7-8 inches of lift and clear 35's a lot easier.

I've been a professional installer for the past 7 years and have installed superlift, trailmaster, tuffcountry, rough country, fabtech, bds, rancho, cognito, ready lift, procomp, and i'm sure many others that i'm forgetting.

I can hands down say BDS, Fabtech, and Cognito have by far fit the best as well as had the best instructions that I've seen. (the instructions may have changed over the years that i have not installed some of the other kits) Our shop goes to BDS as our first recommendation every time. I had their 6" kit on my last truck and it drove and performed perfectly. 3 years and not a single bracket showed any signs of the finish coming off at all. I could do 90 on the highway with one finger on the wheel. I was very very very pleased.

Now I'm sure everyone has a horror story with every thing out there. But hands down if i was looking for 4-6" i would go BDS. When I have the money together to do this next truck the way I want to It will most likely be fabtech, or cognito depending on the final height i'll be looking for.

Whats your price range and height preference? BDS, FTS, Fabtech, Cognito, Superlift, Rancho, Bulletproof, Zone, and RCX all make good lifts of different heights and prices. The only thing I'd avoid is the 4" budget SST style lifts and the 7.5" RCX.

Don't mean to thread hack but why avoid the 4" Readylift system? I'm looking for a 4 inch system and their price is quite good for my budget. Just curious if there are people having problems with it before I put the money out for lift kit thats going to be horrible.

ready lift 4" puts added stress on the tie rods as well as the lower control arm ball joints, does nothing to correct the angles of them since it is not a full drop kit. will more than likely cause a stiffer ride and cause components to wear out faster. for the price of that you can get a rough country 5" kit. or spend some more for the bds 4" kit if you're stuck on 4. also a 2.5 leveling kit plus a 1.5 body lift will get you 4 inches for way less than a full suspension kit
