I want a Monster Truck!

Recommended Posts

I recently moved to Charlotte and after purchasing and moving into my beautiful new home, I found out the Garage is too short (length) for my Beautiful, Black 2010 Silverado 1500. Now it is parked in my tree covered driveway. So I want to Jack it up.

Here are the issues I have.

3 local shops tell me they can't do anymore than a 6 inch lift with 35s

I've seen 10" combos and 37s, and I know the guy in my old hometown does them (I think he uses the 7inch RCX with a 3 inch Body lift). So thats no huge deal. I just take the truck back to WV for a couple days.

Where I need the advice: Its 4.8L so I know I should regear even for 35s. The question: Should I even consider 37s on the 4.8L.

Also do you have any suggestions for Charlotte or close shops that can do 10 inch lift on new 1500s?

I figured on cutout Fender flares. I don't really know about offset and actual tires size. I like a smaller rim and more Rubber.

Thanks for any feedback.

cognito 10-12" kit. if you really want to get stupid run a 3" body lift on top of that for 15" of lift. and re-gear to 5:13's with 37's and youll be fine

or really stupider and fullthrottle suspension has a 15" kit and then the 3" body on top of that for 18" of lift.

Liftlaws.com:

Suspension

There are no suspension modification laws in North Carolina for trucks or multi-purpose vehicles with special features for occasional off-road use. Passenger vehicles cannot be lifted or lowered more than 6 inches without the written approval of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.

NCGS 20-135.4

I'm not sure exactly what they're trying to say here... First no regs, then they say no more than 6 inches. But that's suspension lift, so I'm assuming you could get away with 6 suspension and then a BL on top of that.

9 inches is pretty high...

Yeah 9 inches would be plenty if I could trim it out and get 37s on it

It is not clear. I have a truck frme and it is occasionally off-road so I thinkI'm clear. The discussion around the internet suggests that you can lift as much as you want (because of that exemption). And we all know, everything on the internet is true. I see the trucks running around here. I might get some flack if i tried to drive it through up town everyday.

i'd recommend fabtech or bds if you're stopping at 35's fabtech will give you more lift and the ability to get up to ~8" of lift. bds is a great kit but is pretty much maxed out at 6". you can get away with a small spacer in the front but not much more than that
