Those of you from Michigan, are there any good dirt tracks other than Hartford in the area? I follow winged sprints but enjoy stopping in to see modifieds and late models if there is a good local track. I know of most all in Indiana, head to Eldora in Ohio whenever I can, and head out to the Knoxville Nationals each year. I'm lucky that the GF enjoys it as much as me and she is sad that she can't go to any with me anymore.

I was just curious if Michigan had any within reason to D-town.

Gary, schmary. Detroit and Flint are in the top 5 cities for crime, last I looked. I worked in a bad part of Flint for a few years. Buck up you wussy's!

Lol.

For many years Gary was the murder capital of the US.

I-96 speedway is not too far out and a nice track, Crystal Motor Speedway is awesomme but a bit of a trek, Also TriCity Speedway has some great racing but is 2 hours + north of the "D". Crystalk and TriCity are both well worth the drive.

Jesus I'm an idiot, I didn't even think of I-96... I'll look into those other two, thanks man.

No prob, if you ever want to check out some really good asphalt racing (dirt is for farming, asphalt is for racing) check out Auto City Speedway in Clio it's about 1 hour north of the "D" straight shot up I-75 they have the very best Street Stocks in the state and the 1/4 high bank lets them really get it side by side bumper to bumper

You can only be on top for so long before you run out of people to murder!

Nope, new Orleans is

Ryan

Pretty sure it's Detroit or Flint.

Dirtfan, it's a bit of a hike but just south of me is Jackson County Speedway. No Sprint cars but they do late model:

I don't think we can be friends anymore... but seriously, everyone has their own style of racing they love. For me you can't beat a World of Outlaws 410, 900+HP, 1400 pound weight limit, running 12's on a half mile and 9 seconds at Bloomington on a 1/4 mile. Others like asphalt and we all can agree that is where the money is. All I know is Tony Stewart racing 50-60 410 races a year because he feels it is the hardest form of racing there is, and the most fun.

With that said, I'm not arguing which is better. If you love what you watch then that is all about, I just LOVE the fact that people still support the local tracks. Without the support there is no racing.

We get the 410 Sprints on the asphalt too, about 12.9 around the 1/2 mile carrying the left front down the full straights, I like both but asphalt is what is close to me. I grew up with Auto City 5 miles south of my house and Dixie Motor Speedway 7 miles to the north.

I was working at Auto City when the Sprints were in town back in 06 and a really nice guy/ great driver had a throttle hang going into turn 3 I was first on scene and it then took me another 2 years to go back to the track when they were there just scared the shit out of me after seeing what I saw

Go to Youtube and type in auto city maximum destruction, watch any of the videos from this year, I am the idiot in the Orange and Silver #11 truck

I have never seen the 410's on asphalt in person, just watched one destroy the Bristol track record last year, haha. I can only imagine seeing that wreck you speak of up close, I've seen my fair share of horrible ones but have only seen one guy get killed, throttle hung at Eldora into three and the rest is history. That is awesome that you race, I'll have to look that video up! My closest contribution was helping a buddy run a wingless 410 at Gas City, Kokomo, and Kamp before Kamp shut down. I only lasted one season, at the time it was too much between work and college.
