Exactly what are the gains from a tune?

I'm curious...

I have a '10 Silverado, non-NHT.

Extended cab, 4x4, Z-71, 6.2 liter, 6-speed, 3.42 gears.

I do work the truck, towing a heavy camper, but 90% is as a daily driver... 7.5 miles to work and home, 19 stoplights each way.

What would I gain?

How much HP/Torque?

Any MPG?

Cost?

Hard to explain, once you drive one you will be like oh yea its so much better

One thing is the shifting is cleaned up for a lack of a better word.

+1. You can change shift points. Have the fuel and timing curves adjusted. Remove all the nanny torque management. If you can keep your foot out of it after the tune you might see a slight mpg improvement. Check out black bear performance. You won't be disappointed.

Only real way is a dyno. Go on YouTube and search black bear performance. There is a video of Justin dyno tuning and the baseline and end result on a 6.2 camaro

Try contacting Blackbearperformance.com, they will tell you exactly what they can do for your truck. A custom tune will be exactly that so what one person wants to get out of a tune vs what you want to get out of it will be different.

Thank you all for the feedback. I just am chicken... and cannot possibly give away 3 years of warranty, if I were to have a problem. Maybe in January of 2016, when the 5 years is up, I'll revisit this topic. I do appreciate everyone's comments!

If you have the Autocal, you wont have to give up any warranty. If you have an issue, just reinstall the factory tune and nobody will ever know it was tuned to begin with. Its the same concept as your Cortex Tuner.

Well I sold my inTune two weeks ago thinking that I could just get by with the stock tune yada, yada v8/v4 and so on..............wrong, I ordered an AutoCal today from BBP! I NEED to feel the HP and TQ. Can't wait, this email tuning is a first for me, so it'll being a learning experience, I might need some hand holding from the seasoned AutoCal members, lol. Thanks guys.

I have had the Auto-Cal for 2 years, truck runs great. I redid a logging just to have Justin verify everything and to also turn off the AFM. I keep the Auto-Cal in the truck with the OEM tune(s) and instructions (because you rarely use it again to the point you master it). Justin verified the LCD display can handle the Temperatures year round stored in the truck.
