old-chevy-dude
Looking at a 2013 Grand Sport Convertible, possibly considering it, but might wait to see what the 2014 holds. at any rate, I have a question.. What is this block behind the throttle pedal? Never seen that before, and looking at pre-2008 Vette's it doesn't seem to be on them (at least the 2 I looked at). Rev limiter...lol Actually I don't know, I've also seen this before but have no idea of what it was for.
old-chevy-dude
lol, yeah I was thinking the same thing.. something to help keep your foot out of it... but seriously what is it?
Wolfmanjohn
My '04 'Vette had one of those, too; I always thought it was there so the gas pedal could be placed closer to the height of the brake pedal for heel'n'toeing without causing the gas pedal to have a long travel. But as I wrote, that's what I thought, not what I know.
old-chevy-dude
Interesting.. there is a 2006 Vette one of our employees have and he doesn't have it, though I guess it could have been removed he bought the Vette second hand..
Wolfmanjohn
I'd bet it was removed. Any studs sticking out from the floorpan or holes in the carpet in that area of his car?
old-chevy-dude
don't know, I just glanced in, didn't get on my hands and knees.. I asked him and he said it's never been there, but again he got it second hand..

MikeNH
It's likely to prevent pedal over travel. You won't gain anything by removing it.
old-chevy-dude
don't want to remove it, just curious what it was.
MikeNH
Like it was said, the pedal was probably raised some so now it bottoms out not flush on the floor. That it just there so if you gun it you don't break something by being too hard on it.
