A few tuning questions

Ok so I'm looking to get some kind of handheld tuner. I had a few questions first because i don't have a lot of knowledge on what these things can do. my first question is can a tuner recalibrate the speedo for larger tires? When i was at the dealership they went to recalibrate everything for me, and had to call GM. GM said they don't support a 285/55r20 tire, so they coudn't reprogram it. I know it isn't a huge difference, but it's one of those little things that bug me.

 

Second can i buy one that if i decide to upgrade from my 1500 to a 2500 i will still be able to tune it? What about if i go to a Duramax?
