Replacing stock leafs with NHT leafs

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about replacing my stock leafs on my 08 CC with the rear leafs from an NHT truck since they have a higher spring rate than the regular factory springs (to help with sag when towing or hauling) if I can find them cheap enough. The ride being a little more harsh doesn't bother me.

My question is this...since the NHT springs have a higher spring/weight rating, will there be less sag with the NHT springs compared with the factory rear springs with the same load? Say a load that currenty makes my truck sag 1-2" with current springs shouldn't sag with the NHT springs?

I'm just looking for less sag (truck is leveled) when towing or hauling. I don't tow enough to really justify air bags and don't really want to go with helper springs since I didn't have much luck with them on my last truck. But depending on price I might be able to get the airbags cheaper than some used NHT springs.

Now I just have to find somebody selling them.

The NHT springs only add ~300 lbs of capacity. I have no experience w/ them, but I doubt you'll notice much difference. A leveled truck is going to sag w/ a lot of weight, unless you put some really stiff springs, timbrens (big bump stops), or air bags under it.
