Playing in the mountain snow

One of my buddies that I work with was in town from Detroit for the holidays so we and another buddy ran our beasts up to the mountains for a day of play.  My camera died after one picture so I will get the more exciting ones later when he emails them to me.

The snow was only about 8 inches deep here.

Great pic. I love those old k10 and k20 trucks. I wanna get an '87 or older and lift it 12 inches, with a 14 bolt rear and 12 bolt front with lockers, 38 inch super swampers, a built 454 with a richmand 5 speed, 4 inch cowl hood, and paint it forest green. I need to keep dreaming. Your k10 is sweet BTW   .

Yeah, wheeling in the snow is a lot of fun and it doesn’t cost 10 bucks at the car wash to wash off like playing in the mud does.  Wish we had more snow in the mountains though….it will probably be another dry year of bad forest fires and water restrictions for us.  The area where this picture was taken is around 10,000 ft and is usually impassable this time a year unless on a snowmobile. Last summer I could only water my grass twice a week because of lack of snow in the mountains…..that is not a good thing in an area that gets well into the 100’s with zero humidity in the summer.

Soon as my buddy gets off his butt and sends me the rest of the pictures I’ll post some of the more exciting ones.  I think he got a nice pic of my truck throwing huge rooster tails from the front tires while extracting my other buddies Jeep J20 off a log.

Larry,

I think this year is going to a bad year for precip here too . In my signature pic last year this time the snow was up to my bumper now look at it not even up to my rims .

Uggghh hate to see how much irrigation water we get if things don't shape up pretty quick

Here are a few more.

This poor dude doesn’t look in to bad of shape but this truck is very high centered.  The differential hung up on the right side of the log spinning a 35” tire in the air while the backasswards Jeep leaf spring u-bolts were snagged on the other side preventing the left tire from grabbing.  The fact that we are just poor boys that can’t afford lockers doesn’t help matters much either.  A spring over conversion is defiantly in this Jeeps future.

The tire tracks on the other side of the log are mine.  I made it without a problem....hehe :thumb:  I couldn’t budge him by pulling this way.

Finally got  him loose this way by jacking up his front end with a hi-lift jack, jerking, some fancy winching with snatch blocks and a few helpfull trees.

Those are some good pics.  What I wouldn't give to have that white stuff all over.  Stupid f-ing desert :fume:

I think I will have to take a drive to the mountains and see if I can't find some snow to play in, there is bound to be a little which hasn't melted yet...
