4" to 6" lift for 2009 silverado???

Recommended Posts

im looking to lift my 2009 silverado somewhere between 4 to 6 inches and wanted to get some opinions on which kit i should go with i have been looking at the RC tuff country and readylift kits. i wont be doing a ton of off roading mainly just during hunting season and to have fun every once in awhile, i will mainly be driving it on the road and want it to look good. i would like to not spend a fortune on the kit either. thanks

If you want to go cheap and just do a suspension lift get the RC it's 5" and cheaper then the others. Your other option is a leveling kit and body lift, which is the cheapest way to go if you don't mind a body lift.

If I understand correctly the levelling kit raises the front 2" for a level stance and the body lift can be raised at a maximum of 3". This being the cheapest lift, correct?

Yes

the only thing about RC is i have read alot of bad reviews about there lift kits. im not necessarily going for the cheapest kit i just dont want to spend 2000 dollars on a lift.

The RC 5" is fine, it's the 3" that's a POS

I got a quote today for a lift, does it seem fair and how about the brand that he suggests?

"I want to keep your truck driving nice. Here is what i recommend 4" front 1.75" rear. It levels and lifts the truck nice.

Kit $1149.95 plus install

Labour is 4-5 hours @ 89.95 plus alignment $89.95

Call me if you want more info or other options

RC 5" or body lift / level combo. No to RL or any other "budget" kit. I would go bigger and look at the FTS 7".

I would go with the RC 5" for less money http://www.roughcountry.com/suspension/4wd-chevy/1500_5.html shop around and you may find a better deal then their web has it listed for.

Let me be more clear. No to Ready Lift. Your truck won't be riding nice with that kit. Please refer to post number 2 and 6.

Yea sorry I'm new to the truck scene I didn't understand what RL stood for! This truck is my first vehicle :)

RC has a 5" and a 7.5" listed at the same price, It would make sense buying the 7.5". I don't want to be jumping in the truck he he. RC also stats for the 7.5" this; • Does NOT fit models with electric steering. • AWD models will require drive line modifications (Must be converted to not be AWD).

Thanks for the help guys!

  • 2 weeks later...

I would recommend saving your money for a few more months and get a quality kit. The money you save now getting a more "cost" effective kit isn't worth the price youll pay fixing components down the road. I just put the 7" McGaughy lift on my truck and it was a great investment and very well built kit. I need to update my profile on this website but I have pics on GMFS.

Go ahead and go bigger than what you think you want in the first place... I started with a 4" and will be at 9" by the end of the year :sigh:

What are you going to do with the 4"? :D
