Hemi engine information. Trying not to get screwed by a shop

My uncle has a 2008 dodge 2500 hd with the Hemi. There was an ad for a tune up special $59.99 for a V8. They tried to charge $200 because the Hemi has 2 spark plugs per cylinder. Is that true or false? I thought the Hemi only had 8 plugs not 16. We are curious he doesn't know much about his truck and I don't either except the transfer case is a piece of crap because it grenaded on the highway in 2wd mode

Wouldnt doubt it, i think even somee fords have two plugs per cylinder. Why they do that, maybe they thought it was efficient but I prefer one per cyl. Seems to run fine for me.

Well I believe the plug goes thru the top of the head so I'm unsure

I don't know how people work on these trucks. They have huge hoods that you can only see or get to the front third of the motor.

Thinking the recommended change interval is 30,000 miles on these.

Hemi spark plug how to change video.

My wife's Jeep is only the 4.7L so I only have 8 plugs, but the 30k miles is necessary. Believe me, I've done them twice now, both times they were definitely due. Not sure if it's the plugs or the engine operation but the plugs are pretty worn by 30k miles. I'm still running factory plugs in my truck and still look great compared to hers.

Most modern Hemi engines use copper plugs and 30K miles is the change interval. Our 6.1L Hemi engines in the SRTs use platinum plugs with 100K change interval thankfully because 16 platinum plugs are not cheap!

I used to do that crap to my buddy with the Ram all the time, ripping off the old commercial-

"Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Picking up stuff in a Hemi-powered Dodge Ram!"

Or before trying to burn down his back yard last July 4th-

"Saturday! Saturday! Saturday! Dropping the kids off at the inlaws so they don't see daddy and his friends blow their fingers off in a Hemi-powered Dodge Ram!"

yes 16 plugs, something to do with since the top of the cylinder is rounded(more space essentially), they found that two spark plugs ensures a complete combustion
