That looks like a place I landed an airplane once. 'tween CA city, Cohen dry lake, and Randsburg?

It's out behind Galileo Hill near the Randsburg Mojave Road.Lots of acreage to land a plane out there :D So,yep,you're close.

Sounds like that's the place or near it. I landed where all the people would park their rigs when they used to have the enduros there in the '70s.

 

It was a plane that looked like this. Same color scheme and model. Woulda been around 1976-77

Ya I thought I was young at 29 to have a '14 even though I just have an LT lol. Not too long after getting mine I saw a kid that looked to barely be out of high school driving a High Country.
