What did you do with your truck/shop today

Hey chevy.. If i got an lbz or lmm, Cant i upgrade the oem turbo and make power keeping it a single turbo, with a good tune?

Whats the real difference between 2 smaller turbos or 1 big one...

I'm no professional on this subject I'm sure their is people who know a lot more. But I have read a lot, researched alot. If you just "upgrade" stock turbo with a billet wheel you can get about 530rwhp with a lift pump, exhaust, CAI and a good tune. But anything after that your pushing its limits running it out of its map. Their is MANY other mods you that have to take place before you begin to worry about other turbos. The stock turbo has enough potential to destroy your transmission. Tranny, lift pump, sump, exhaust, gauges and a few other supported mods are MUCH needed before you up turbo size.

The difference between a big single and twins is twins will have better driving characteristics, smoother power, lower EGT's, lower drive pressure(important) and turbo(s) will last longer. A big single can make huge power, but the boost hits hard, towing isn't as good, higher EGT's and your pushing one turbo to make the boost that two could do with half the effort...catch my drift? It's just common sense, two air pumps is better than one to achieve the same boost pressure...

I have read (don't know if it holds any authenticity) that a twinned engine running the same HP as a big single turbo engine will last longer. It is safer power.

The ONLY draw back I see do doing twins it's ALOT of work, more rotating parts. some guys have a hard time with boost leaks. I know first hand installing one. It's a PITA. And they cost quite a bit more...

IMO their is pros and cons to both. In the end, it's All relative to how much $$$$ your wife will let you spend lol

Thanks..that all makes sense..Probably why ford went with two turbos on that 6.4 they made after the disaster they had with the 6.0!

Im going to definitly do the suncoast ally for the big block truck, And the d-max truck if i get one.. The guy at duraburb said the allison holds up pretty good up to 450 hp and like 8 or 900 ft lbs..Anything moe then that and it will go into limp after 3-4 times hammering into it..

Do you have the stock wheels from that truck? Im looking for an oem set of 17,s

Ya once you limp it your screwed, it will get easier and easier to limp. An ya they hold up to about 450, depending on your foot.

And I'm laughin at the 6.4, that was a disaster of an engine as well. Probly why it lasted as long as it did, the only good one to get from ford was 7.3...

My dad owns the new 6.7, so far it's been good truck!

Dropped the truck off at the dealer to get the new water pump installed, 2nd one in a year. Also asked them to check out the emissions stuff, maybe see why my exhaust smells like ammonia so bad. Runs great, no CEL or anything just stinky exhaust.

Picked her up this afternoon, new water pump looks good. The tech checked out the emission stuff and said everything is working as it should, no issues so it must be the quality as gas around here.

Couldn't wait to get it home and put the tune back in. Stock= boooooooooo, lol

I'd go for it Frogfish, a little birdie told me that they are a freakin' blast. This is a video link, my first. Hope I did it right...

update- link won't work, I'm too old and stupid to link a video from photobucket.com. I've never posted to youtube, but I'd probably screw that up as well...
