What did you do with your truck/shop today

In this state, passing just that one car (and you never know which one it will be) means a half hour arrival time difference. I swear some people around here just hit the road to piss everyone else off for their own, sick, twisted reasons. 10 - 15 under the limit with no place to pass .... and when they get to the one passing zone on the entire road, they speed up! :banghead:

Yeah two lane time, drag race.

I tend to go slower than limit on interstates and faster on single lane roads.

Those your talking about tend to move faster if you keep your distance.

Stupidest thing you can do driving is ride another vehicles ass.

I don't tailgate like I did as a kid. You'd be amazed at people around here - you could give them 20 car lengths and they'd still go 15 under ... then the next guy you get behind is doing 30 OVER!

Staying home is the best thing for my sanity. :D

Oh I hear you there! I got out of it 6 years ago & I'm not missing it at all. I still haul cars occasionally with the Silverado for myself, but I have no desire to do that full time. I still keep my "A" just in case, but I haven't had a physical in 7 years or so. I will never drive for someone else EVER again, besides close friends.

On that note I've got a buddy that's been thinking of buying a flatbed setup & just hitting Freightfinder.com every morning. I may do an occasional run for him in that case. Would make buying my coal (bagged) for the winter much cheaper buying it by the TT load, and delivering it myself. :)

Thanks for the refresher on the HOS - I see they totally revamped that yet again. Was hard enough for me to remember it when I was driving, let alone being out of it 6 years now. My log books had lots of Wite-Out ...

They made it Federal law that your physical is tied to your license a couple years back. So if the physical is out of date, the commercial part of the license is as well.

Get my letter every 24 months now 90 prior to the physical expiring.

& yeah the Hours of Service regs are written so they can generate revenue via fines, not safety. But at least they rolled back the restart. For a while it was written that you could only take one restart every 168 hours. Your 34 hour off duty reset also had to cover two consecutive periods between the hours of 1 am - 5 am. Apparently those who write the regs think that the rest of the world works the same as Federal offices between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm. :nonod:

GMC Sierra is best truck ever , how can I get it in Europe?

You'd have to independently import from the US or the Middle East. I doubt you'd be able to register them though, I'm almost sure that these trucks do not comply with Euro V emissions regulations.

Priced some stuff. That crack hasnt spread and is still mostly hidden behind the IC dome. But local dealer is only charging $480 for the dash so still thinking about it.

Since the non-Z71 steering wheels are so prone for the black rubber coating coming off, I think I might put the Z71 steering wheel on. An entire new wheel is cheaper than just the small silver plastic pieces by themselves. Insane.

Priced the door latch assembly, but the thing has worked perfect for two weeks now. Maybe the daily driving has run off the gremlin?

And finally, the trim piece above the glovebox has a scratch.

If I ordered all that cosmetic stuff the Tahoe would be pretty much perfect.

GM is using a revised PN for the dash, I hope they upgraded the durability? Think I should get a new dash or wait until this one becomes an eyesore?

With the price of these things, I'd glue a carpet to the dash before I ran to the dealer with a fistfull of $100's ... :) Just my .02.

More good info there '01LS. Guess if I need to jam gears again I'll have to stop by the doctors office first ...

Truck lost 11000 pounds. Its Eastbound and down.

Wow that's one heavy camper!! :noway:

Thought about it some more, a lot of people are having them crack in the 2-4 year range. Since it's not an eyesore, amd mostly out of sight, I will wait until it is noticeable I guess, so I won't be waiting for the next crack.

Maybe that class action suit will get us all free repairs while I wait.

He said there are zero in GM inventory and he couldn't make an order. This was the parts department that got me just the knob for the RSE volume, when NO ONE else said it was possible, (GMPD never even answer my request to buy just it)

Ordered the Z71 steering wheel (hopefully) and new center dash trim piece. Scratch on mine.

Looking at the iDatalink Maestro. Think I'll get it instead of the axxess, but....

You have to tap into a few of the OBDII plug wires? Whats the best way to do that? EDIT:

That only if you are using a head unit that can display guages, so its optional.
