What did you do with your truck/shop today

how do they expect people to just up and do that? lol glad i live where they dont do this

In NH it's done along with registration. You don't do it, you don't get the inspection sticker. Then you get pulled over, ticketed and potentially have the car towed.

I'm glad we only need emissions testing every 2 years here. And if a car is less than 7 years... I think that's it now... It doesn't need any emmision testing. Safeties are only done if you purchase a used car and need to transfer ownerships.

its just another way for the state to milk money from its people, inspections/emissions are so not worth it. What business is it of the states if i want to run my truck with not cat's and mufflers? It's my dam truck i'll do with it as i please

In VA we don't have emissions testing, only safety. It's a separate sticker that goes in your windshield, done every year. It's really just a basic inspection for brake pad thickness, ball joints aren't failing, tires have enough tread, windshield wipers aren't torn, and all lights work and headlights aimed properly. There's a whole bunch of other inspectable criteria, but that's all the shop has to sign off on. Some shops are more thorough than others to try to generate business, but most just try to cover the basics and move on to the next car. The place I go it takes 10 minutes from pulling into the garage bay until I'm done. It costs $16, and you have to pay whether it passes or fails. If it fails you get a pink sticker in your window that says FAILED and you aren't supposed to drive it other than to/from a repair shop. I think the reinspection is free if you take it back where it was originally inspected. I feel like even though it's a inconvenience for me since I take care of my vehicle, I've seen plenty of vehicles failed and I'm glad they are being taken off the road until the basics are fixed.

The only thing I hate about our emissions testing here in NW Indiana is that only Lake and Porter county are required to do it. I live on the very SE edge of Porter county, all of my buddies live in LaPorte county and don't have emissions testing. Literally I drive a mile and I'm out of my county. They come to my place, work in Porter and Lake, drive without cats, or have O2 sensors deleted by tunes for longtubes, yet there I am still having to be tested and they have free reign.

I say it should be all or nothing, two counties in IN should not be the only ones testing. Especially since the only reason we do is due to the steel mills, which for years have recieved good air quality ratings. If I didn't travel over 200 miles to see my GF I would have farm plates and be done with it, that I am allowed to do over some of them.

I don't know that I've seen a farm plate in MI yet. But I see plenty of lifted trucks with standard tags anyhow. It really probably depends- if you're in a rural area I've been told you can usually get away with a tall/loud truck but if you head into the city you might get hassled.

Really depends on who you run into. Though I don't think you won't have issues in Detroit, no one is there to complain. My truck has the dB/Corsa exhaust so at steady speed it's fairly mild. I drive too much to put up with an obnoxiously loud truck. And by loud I mean stuff like glass packs or straight pipes, even then as long an you're not romping on it you'll probably be fine. Exhaust noise is one of those things that is always vague in terms of enforcement.

A kid here got in trouble with having 12" glasspacks, but for anyone else it would have been fine, he was always romping on it.

As I've said before, no inspections here, or emissions. But more people are still in accidents because of people, not vehicles. I'm guessing the number because of vehicle failure is pretty low.

As someone that had a brake-line pop doing 120 km/h in the fast (Well it's supposed to be the passing lane but good luck with that on the 401) and having to dodge through slower traffic without hitting anything across 5 lanes of traffic to an off-ramp where I then discovered I also had no E Brake (nearly snapped it off because I hoofed it and there was no resistance) and ended up sliding the passenger side tires along the curb until I was going slow enough to put it in park despite still going like 10 km/h I can safely say inspections don't seem so bad after the fact. Emissions is utter bullshit though.

Edit: Keep in mind, this wasn't my vehicle and if I'd of known I wouldn't have driven it.

if u have no cats and are running straight pipes u get in trouble, if the bottom of your truck is higher than 3 feet you get in trouble if your windows are dark you get in trouble its ridiculous and youd think here in dune town they would go easy on the locals but nope theres a few that are incredibly annoying

What they need to crack down on instead of modifications is the way people drive. I just drove 124 miles out of town to class. It took longer than normal even with construction because of truckers trying to pass each other which brings everyone down to 55-60 MPH on a road that holds a speed limit of 70 or dipsh*ts that cant comprehend a sign that says "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT" I maybe spent a whole 20 miles of that drive at 70+ MPH. People who congest traffic need to be sited no people with no cats, a lift, or in my case failing an emissions test because my K&N tube didnt have the sticker with the CARB Compliance number
