Oh definitely. Water beads right off. Truck stays cleaner (for the most part). Washing is easier. The only disadvantage is the application/cure which isn’t bad at all but if you can’t take the time to let your vehicle sit for at least 24 hrs this could be an issue.

How does this differ from a new coat of wax every 6 months?
I'm still trying to learn what the advantages and disadvantages are of ceramic coating.
What type of prep do you have to do before applying the ceramic coating?

May will be two years it has been applied. Advantages are it lasts. I have yet to find a disadvantage (if someone says costs there are DIY kits that aren’t much more than a good wax).

Before the photo above was taken I foamed the truck and sprayed off at the local coin op no scrubbing. Did it remove all the salt and crap no but it got most of it off with just the power washer. I basically went home and used my waterless wash to wipe down then did a final wipe down with adams CS3 (I love this stuff).

Prep for ceramic is no different than waxing really (if you do it correctly)

Clay
Polish to remove scratches/swirls
Coating prep spray (basically an alcohol wipe down)
Apply
Let cure
Ceramic boost spray (with the Adams kit)

So my truck was caked. I (well my daughter) foamed the truck then sprayed off. No wiping or drying because another storm is coming. I’ve never had these results on an uncoated vehicle

You’re really making it tempting to try my hand at ceramic coating my truck myself.

It’s Really not hard. The prep is the hardest part and that’s not bad.

I remember the day I picked my truck up from the ceramic guy. I was floored how good it looked.

2 years later I'd say the ceramic is mostly gone but the paint still looks real good. I've been using Lucas spray wax every time I wipe it down after washing it. Helps but not the same.

I'm planning on doing a major full detail in the spring. Wash with Dawn, clay, polish, then I'm not sure if I'll get a diy ceramic or just wax early and often.

I'm also going to clean up underneath and touch up the frame and everything else. Paint the rear driveshaft. leaf springs etc. ddb18d5ba32d39c175bd925e9f139afe.jpg441b749dbd0219b6e64d40ab6a5fc03f.jpgc085c835314e82d38ae8bf66ee0865fe.jpg

Do you have certain products you would recommend or stay away from?

I’ve only used the Adams ceramic. The new Graphene is easier to apply IMO. I’ve done 3 vehicles with it since October.

While I was in the Dominican Republic my buddy started on Fatty's new bumpers. He did a great job welding them together, especially since it was his first real welding job. Still need to do a few more things before they get put on permanently. Made a recycling run today on the way to work.  $70+change.  The TV box was full of/overflowing with Styrofoam and cardboard, two bags of smashed cans, and two bags of smashed bottles.  OMG, it uncluttered/opened-up my garage, even with all of that being in a corner.
