How's the new rig compare to the old Raven?

Got the new Borla front pipe on. SAME DAMN F*&%^$#& HOWL. Wonder if there's something in the muffler causing issues. Pipe is free and clear, no issues there. For some reason they cut a hole in the middle of the flapper paddle, though it doesn't seem to hurt functionality too much.

Emailed them again, hopefully they can figure something out. Starting to wish I kept my factory exhaust, this is getting annoying. Kinda takes the fun out of your $1000 exhaust system when your V8 sounds more like a mini jet than a hot rod.

Other than the year, there are quite a few differences between the two.  New one has a sunroof, 4WD, no tonneau cover, adjustable pedals, integrated trailer brake, and all mods are listed in my photo album.

In the shop today I repaired two of these babies, I really had to wrestle to get this one done every step of the way. Took me a little over an hour.  It's for a 2013 KIA Rondo.

I hear that!

We've owned our '86 Grand Marquis for 16 years now, and in that time, it's only seen 3 months of one winter back in '03, before we bought the house. I had to change the bumper in 2010, just from that!

Wish I had taken a pic of the bumper faces - night and day difference. The one on the left came from PA, and was perfect. Mine was perforated, and chrome was peeling up.

Here you go.

Holy CRAP that thing is BEAUTIFUL!! Wish I had the cash - I'd drive out there and grab it!

Much better investment right there than anything new. That thing will easily go another 30 years with very little to keep it going.

I call the full size cars nowadays midsize, my friends look at me like I'm an idiot.  I point out the Crown Vic trio are the last of what I consider a full size car and even then they're on the smaller side.

If it weren't for fuel economy standards I bet the old fullsize cars would still be around.

The howl is slowly going away, so that is good. That being said, I said hell with it and got a new one coming. Should be here Tuesday, and I have some ideas for clamp placement that may help. At any rate I'm looking forward to it.

103,274 miles and counting!

My wife averages 21-24 MPG all summer long  out of that MPFI 302.

Had a "low coolant" warning come on today, good thing we were already going to the parts store to dump some oil. Opened the hood and the cap for one of the AC lines was missing. So now I need to go back to the dealer and ask wtf they were doing with my AC and why was I missing coolant? I've never had a low coolant warning on any of my trucks. Doesn't matter if I'm running 90 mph in 100F+ Georgia heat or 25F Virginia fall.

After putting coolant and dumping the used oil jugs we finally did some work on the boat. New air system in the truck runs that bottle jack and impact wrench pretty well. Learned I have disc brakes on the trailer, well that one is, I'm assuming the other 3 are disc too. Tried to pull the rotors off but ran out of time fighting with rusted bolts. Had to go to work. You got a little taste of MA there with those rotors! :D Everything we work on up here looks exactly like that if it's more than 2 years old. That one actually isn't that bad - you should see some of the brake jobs I do. Torches and Big Nasty required.

A little tip from the North - when you get the pads out, grind all the rust off the piston and ears of the caliper, and grease the crap out of them with  something good, like Permatex Ceramic Extreme (purple stuff). Also grind underneath the shims and grease those too ( you might not have shims with that setup from the looks of it ). That way rust jacking won't bind the pads and make them wear funny (diagonally, usually). I leave the shim surface where the pad rides dry.

This one came off a 5 year old Mazda 6, before I had Big Nasty. Had to smash it a million times with a hammer & "little nasty" (Home Depot air chisel) to get it off the hub. Took me an hour to get it off! Big Nasty was well worth the money - would've knocked this rotor off in 30 seconds with it.

Well I bought the boat last half of 2016.  It's only made 1 trip of about an hour to get to it's current parking spot, so since November 2016 it's sat there.  The guy who had it didn't think he'd taken it out in 4-6 years (registration stick says 2012 if I remember right).  I'm pretty sure the brakes worked when I towed the boat, sure as hell didn't feel like the truck was trying to stop 10k+ by itself anyway.  I didn't think they were that bad, but considering salt water kills lots of stuff I should be surprised they even worked after this many years.  I might just say screw it and replace all 4 brakes vs trying to recondition them, depends on quick we can get the rest of the work going on it.  Ideally the boat will be functional enough to take to the keys in July for mini-season, if it's usable that quickly I'll most likely just replace all 4.  Just like I've got 8 tires (2 spares) waiting to go on it when we start taking it out.  What the salt water doesn't kill the Florida sun tries to kill!

Well I got a dash cam installed in the wife's 2106 Suburban.  I was scared at first that I was going to break something trying to get the headliner down enough to run the cable, but all worked well.  It got up to 70 here today so it was nice out.  Didn't even break a sweat.  All hooked up and comes on when the vehicle starts.

Even if you never have to use it because of an accident, the footage you get of idiots driving will be fun to share with your friends.  Which one did you go with?  Since you hardwired it, is there a way to turn it on if the truck isn't running?  Mine is always on unless I am at home, I don't trust people.  I just ran the wire that came with my newer dash cam, I had been using the old power chord.  One day I'l get around to a permanent power install instead of the 12v socket.

I got this one  YI.  I got it when Amazon had it down to $25.  I have another one in my Cruze.  The fuse I hooked it to turns off the power as soon as you turn off the vehicle.  My wife wouldn't want to deal with having to manually turn it off.    I'm looking at getting a Blackvue front and rear for my 2019 with the power backup.  Been keeping an eye out on Ebay.

I hear that - I remember living in Phoenix, none of the old cars had any rubber left - seals, weatherstrip, tires - all blown out!

Like I said, that doesn't look half bad. Since it's only 3 years old, everything should come apart no problem - just a little tapping with the hammer once the bolts are out. Might need an impact for the bolts (or a cheater bar for the ratchet), though. Side load the caliper to squish the piston in a hair, and it should come right off. Should be able to get a few more years out of the components if you lube up the areas that need it real good.

Salt kills metal fast ... but exposing something to salt, then parking it on dirt or grass is a sure way to DESTROY stuff. Exactly what happens with ocean going boats in the South, and occasionally driven cars in the North in winter.

Usually on boat trailers, only one axle has brakes. You might only have to deal with 2.
