To,Getting ready to head nvest in a power took system(I have some old Craftsman 19.2/C3 stuff but it's over now). I can't decide between a DeWalt kit and a Milwaukee kit.

DeWalt with mid torque and XR high torque impact wrench, XR Hammer Drill, XR Impact Drivers. 1 2ah battery and 1 Flexvolt battery. 1 charger

Milwaukee M18 Fuel High Torque Impact wrench, Fuel Hackzall, Fuel Hammer Drill, Fuel Impact driver. 1 4ah battery, 1 5ah battery, and 1 high output 6am battery. 2 chargers

Milwaukee kit is $140 more.

I'm leaning toward the Milwaukee, better warranty and extra battery

We're in the same boat.  Except I'm looking at the Ridgid line because of the lifetime warranty even on batteries.  Downside is Ridgid doesn't offer a weed wacker that I've seen.  I want to go to one eco system and right now I just have B&D drill/drivers and weed wacker.  Buddy likes his Dewalt, I mostly see people with Dewalt stuff but dang are batteries expensive for all these cordless tools!

Detailed. Tried out the new Adams tire armor. We will see how it lasts, application was pretty simple and cleaner than the tire shine.

Wish I had the time and patience to detail my vehicles that well.

I might, if I had a new one. The realization that it'll rust from the inside out on all the seam and spot welds might hamper my enthusiasm, though.

We had sloppy snow here today. I didn't get stuck, but I definitely need to get my 4x4 functional again.

Discount Tire is having a decent sale on tires, so it might be time for a new set, as I'm currently at 46,000 on a set rated for 45.

Wish I had the time and patience to detail my vehicles that well.

Been hearing Milwaukee isn't what it used to be, and isn't worth the price premium over the others.

There's a guy on Youtube that runs a shop out of central NY that's been using the Harbor Freight Earthquake for the past year, every single day, without a single issue. He's impressed with it's power, too. Also, the first week he had it, he ran it without ever charging the battery.

If I was going to replace my air tools, I'd go with this one, just for the price alone.

Going with Milwaukee, basically on the warranty (5 year tool) and Torque Wrench benefits. The Dewalt 887 has some problems(and is in several kits I was eyeing), in torture tests it's burning up. Yeah, torture tests, but other brands aren't having the issue.  I was considering Ridgid, but they don"'t make one of the overpowered Torque wrenches(yet. I might buy some if their stuff down the road, there are a few things I still want to get but don't need/want right now).

I have had more than a few HF hand tools that are crap. Bought a SAE wrench set for the firebird that I'm pretty sure was metric with SAE markings . And I bought a tap that the box said held up to 3/4 inches, but actually more like 5/8.  That was a day wrecker. (When I had to retap the subframe bolt on that 4th gen.)

Very productive day.
This morning repaired 2 FOBs for a 2007 G6 ( 22733524 ) then sold and programmed a FOB for a 2007 Malibu also a ( 22733524 ) Next this guy picked up his cluster that I rebuilt last week the green one, so got paid for that.  After I went to get my mail to find a mailed-in cluster which I promptly repaired and shipped out this afternoon.  He should get it in the morning in Halifax.  LEDed in cool white. Just received a call for 2 more FOB repair for a 2007 Grand Prix, so not done yet. 7ahX8ro.gif

Just found this on Ridgid Tools. There is a post near the end that details the incredible complication of the brand and who owns it. Milwaukee parent company makes the power tools under a licensing agreement, another brand makes the plumbing tools, and a third company, some investment group, controls the lifetime service agreement.

https://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/general-topics/open-discussion/728033-another-rant

...

- The "Ridgid" name is owned by Emerson Electric who has licensed it's use by TTI back before 2003 when the new orange-color line of power tools was introduced.

- "Ridgid" plumbing tools are made by the Ridge tool company, which was (as I understand it) purchased by Emerson Electric quite some time ago (certainly before 2000)

- Emerson Electric makes "Ridgid" shop vacuums, not TTI

- OWT (One World Technologies) sponsors the LSA for "Ridgid" power tools (TTI), but also has links to Ryobi.

- "Ridgid and Ryobi" power tool Customer Service is the same office and I've found that as rigistered customer, they track both brand purchases on the same system

- "Ridgid" pumbing tools, have a lifetime warranty from Ridge Tool, it has no connection with OWT or TTI, yet many of the same "authorized" service centers are the same.

- "Ridgid" shop vacs' lifetime warranty is from Emerson Electric not OWT, and they share many of the same service centers. "Lifetime" here only means the life of the motor brushes

- Home Depot only has exclusivity rights from TTI-made tools, Ryobi, and Emerson's Shop Vac line. Plumbing tools and other Ridge Tool products are available elsewhere.

- OWT only provides LSA eligibility to "Ridgid" tools sold exclusively by Home Depot. E-Bay and other sources are not eligible.

If that isn't confusing enough for the average buyer, now we see the TTI website drop any mention of "Ridgid" as another of it's brands. Where is that going in the future? Will AEG become available in the North American market as it is in the rest of the world? Will Home Depot just decide that "Ridgid" brand tools become a nuisance because it's tired of marketing them and having to restrict TTI "Ridgid" branding to make only tools it wants for its customers; and, perhaps TTI will sicken of whatever restraints it has from Home Depot's demands for limited products and dwindling show space allowance. (I just don't see how the TTI "Ridgid" brand license and HD exclusivity has done it any real good in these last few years.)

45 degrees out and gave it a bath.  It was dirty.  Followed a tractor trailer on a back road that had mud on it.  So it got all over my truck.  But it is nice and clean now.

I talked to Susan about it.    I can use it to haul stuff to the farm instead of the new one.  Not like I would get much $$ for it anyway.  185k and still on the original front brake pads.  :)

Well started cleaning up and organizing my binder of truck receipts and documents. My mother in law ran an insurance quote for me today on a 19. Surprisingly it only increases about $12 a month over my current truck.

Preparing to sell???

About a month ago I ordered stepper motors, it normally take a week to 10 days to get these. I was down to 10 motors and was about to start refusing jobs on clusters. They were hung up at customs for a while, then the postal strike, then misdirected and work to rule.  Well they special delivered it to my house this afternoon with apologies just in time because I have 2 clusters coming tomorrow.  Here is what 1000 stepper motors look like, 100 per tray.

I was going to quit doing this, but since the demand for my services is so high, I'll quit after these 1000... That's what I said the last time too!

Well if I was down to one cluster a month I would probably quit but did almost 100 (96) this year so far. Instead of people paying the big bucks ( about 800$Cdn )to the dealer, well, this way they get out of it for 100-150. Nobody likes to spend $800 on an old vehicle.  Doing a 2004 Escalade today, beautiful machine and he doesn't mind paying 150$ but he said he would rather pay a speeding ticket than to give our local dealer $800.  Their labor rate as increased to $125 an hour plus tax. As for snowblower you know I own a Yamaha, so not a lot of news there, turn the key, it starts, blow snow then park it.
