Vapor Canister Purge Valve

3rd time I have changed it.  Last time was a year ago.  For some reason when it gets cold outside this thing goes bad?

Could this make the tighten gas cap message appear?

Designed by the same guy that did the dash?

I suppose anything is possible. This valve allows vapor from the canister to enter the engine - when it sticks open, it makes the engine run pig rich, and runs like crap, especially at idle, until the vapor is cleared out. Can also cause a vacuum leak, which causes the opposite problem (lean), with similar running.  Sticking closed will throw a light, since it won't be able to purge the canister when commanded to.

Usually a vent valve failure will trigger the gas cap light. If the tank can't hold vacuum during the computer's test, that message will appear, and also flag a code in the ECM.

I just remember someone saying something about a purge valve causing that message to appear. Maybe a different one

Besides my daily ritual of driving to/from work, drove out to Stater Bros in Mojave for a few things, came home, put the perishables away, and went out and tuned my CB antenna.  Didn't quite get the measurements I was looking/hoping for, but at least now I'm less likely to fry my radio while transmitting.

This morning I repaired a pair of 08 Uplander FOBs and one 08 Cobalt. Then refurbished an 03 Silverado cluster and LEDed it in cool white.

Over the weekend, I drove up to the Big Bear area and home again, out on Friday and home on Sunday.  Cleaned out the truck to make room for a couple that went with us.  Only had a small bit of traffic when I was going from I-215 SB to SR-210 EB, on the loop.  Way home was smooth all the way home.  Now to wash/vacuum the truck one these mornings.

I'm at 10 years, and 91,326. :D

I want to have my barn addition and lift installed before anything else breaks on this thing. The less I drive it, the better. Currently has a rejected sticker on it, because the damn monitors won't run (might be time to change the T-stat).

Drove it for the first time in 2 months this past weekend. Last tank of gas I got for the thing was on October 12th ... and it still has over 1/4 tank! Had to grab a huge storage shelf my brother gave me - wasn't fitting that in the Volvo.

Truck felt like a built hot rod compared to the anemic 114 CRANK HP the Volvo puts out.

Old pic of the Volvo engine - I would never let a car hit the roadway with PINK zip ties ... on the damn plug wires! Awful.  Took this pic the day I got the car home, almost 3 years ago.

Meh, it's meant to be driven. I mean I didn't buy it to look at it.

Many on here end up looking at theirs quiet a bit with all the issues they are having!  At least they are pretty.

Went to Lowes and bought some stain/sealer and screws to finish rebuilding my deck.  Also cleaned all the crap out of my bed that was in there from hauling the old lumber from said bed.

Want to put a tailgate light bar on the back of my truck so spent some time looking at that.  Think I'm gonna go with this: Redline Triple LED Sequential Tailgate Bar.  Not sure if I want to go amber or red turn signals yet.  I'm leaning amber but think it might look strange with the red tail light signals.

Found a cool truck on here I want to mimic the front end of.

Your choice but amber turn signals are for Euro and Rice boxes.
