What did you do with your truck/shop today

Yeah, been there. No fun! My days of rolling 24 hours straight are long since done for. I found that out my last run to FL to haul my buddy's '66 Belvedere down for him. Drove 16 hours straight from FL to PA, and just couldn't do it anymore. I was nodding off! Pulled into a TA, got something to eat, fueled up, and slept like a rock for 4 hours. Was ready to go the last 6.5 hours after that.

 

I used to love doing that, now I dread it! I'm content to just stay in my neighborhood if I can help it.

Vacuumed and drove it thru the car wash. Cursed at the drivers side seat tear.. then cursed at my fat heavy ass body for damaging the seat.

changed the fuel filter and went and scanned the check engine light code. Cylinder 6 glow plug is on it's way out. Bummer.

Looking at replacing the body mounts on mine, but there's two kits. One kit says position 1 and the other position 2 whatever that means.

Washed my wife's CR-V and my truck this morning, before it got too hot. Was 68ºF at 0545 when I started and 92ºF at 0900 when I finished. Her CR-V really needed it, looked like it hadn't been washed since we bought it. My truck hadn't been washed since about a month ago, when I got the oil changed in it.

Drained the door fluid from my door. Figures I laugh my butt off at my buddy's Ford collecting water in his doors a few weeks ago. I only had water in my rear passenger door compared to his 2 or 3 doors that had it. There was quite a bit of water in mine, more than his I think. I don't know why mine didn't drain on its own, none of the drain holes were stopped up like his Ford was. Only thing preventing draining was the rubber piece down on the bottom of the door, lifted that a tiny bit and water poured out of the drain holes. I wiped under that piece a few times with a rag so maybe that'll help.

 

Also checked the pressure in all 6 tires, now that I think about it I forgot the spare. Should be fine.

Changed the front diff fluid and transfer case fluid. The front diff fluid didn't look that bad for having about 50k miles on it. Did it the first time around 48k.

Tis the season. I just did my neighbor's nephew's truck rear diff. fluid change. It's an '03 2500 HD with the 6.0 "U" engine. Truck is MINT for an '03. Owner stored it in a climate controlled garage since new, and Fluid Filmed the undercarriage every year. ZERO body rot or rust! They even changed all the body mounts. Thing only has 93k on her. Interior is mint too - a total time-capsule.

 

When I pulled the rear cover, the bolts still had the factory Loctite on all 14 - that was the OE fluid! Didn't look to bad considering, but like most GM trucks, it was a bit on the low side for my liking. GM loves to skimp on fluids ... the absolute minimum it will handle without failing.

 

Threw a new Fel-Pro gasket on with anaerobic sealer on both sides, and filled her up with Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 - same stuff I've had in mine for the past 7 years. Which reminds me, I'm probably due for that too right about now - did the front & rear diffs (plus tranny and transfer case) at 40k miles - about 51k on the oils now. Since my cam is failing, I think I'll put that off for another few years. Who knows what the future holds for my truck. Might get a carbureted 502 stuffed into it once it's emissions exempt.
