2500 HD 4x4 Lift Combo Question

Recommended Posts

Was thinking of doing a 8" lift on the front of a 2500 HD 4x4 to clear 35 12.50 16.5's or 17' on 9.75x16.5 or 10x17 wheels, and need to know if theres a way to just lift the back  2" or so LESS that way the truck is level afterwards.

So basically Id only need to lift the back 5-6"s.  Will the companies set this up for you, or do I need to get the 6" lift and New Torsion Bar keys for the extra 2" of lift in front?

Also, how much stiffer is the ride with the Keys and more Preload as compared to just crancking up then torsions some with the stock torsion bar keys?

Thanks a bunch

Hey Mortgage Paul, where did you get the NEW torsion bar keys from?? I am looking for information for my truck.  I  want to level out the front end, but the regular Ford torsion bar keys will not fit an HD application, only the 1/2 ton models.  Now, someone has to produce them, and they cant come from Ford, because the F250-F350 Super Duty models use front leaf springs and a straight axle.  Is it possible that they are from a GM truck? or Dodge?? I dont believe that there are many choices here.  I have tried to search the online part stores, and they dont list them without the part number.  Sh*t, if I had the part number, then I wouldnt be asking.  Anyways, any help will be appreciated.  Thanks ???

Usually after you install the lift kit the truck will sit level. My 6" Pro Comp came with a 5" block for the back, about an inch lower, but I added and extra leaf cause I like my rear to set up a little higher, for towing. You can always crank the bars a little bit also, or get a smaller block for the back, get a 4" block and add a leaf or somethin like that.

The 6 lug new style trucks can use the ford keys no problem.  Do you know what they do woth the stock keys that come off of those 6 luggers????  You guessed it,  grind the part numbers down and you have a nice set of keys for your HD truck.  The keys on the 6 lug truck are indexed differently.   Try it see waht hapepns, I think you'll be surprised.

Ken Hilton- Ok, let me see if I have this straight.  The Ford keys are put on the 1/2 ton (6 lug) trucks. Then the original GM keys from the 1/2 ton trucks will fit the 3/4 ton HD (8 lug) trucks to level the front end? Is this right?   I have always heard that the HD keys can be used on the 1/2 tons for leveling the front.  NOW I am confused, because you are saying the complete opposite.  Can anyone shed light on this??

I don't know about taking the HD keys and putting them on a 1/2 ton.  The keys for the 1/2 ton and HD are indexed differently.  I know the ford keys work on 1/2 tons as I have them on my truck, I don't know if the HD keys work on 1/2 tons though.  The stock GM keys from a 1/2 ton will work on a HD to level it out.

Ever take a look on Ebay?   Those keys for non HD's are ford keys, the keys for the HD's are GM keys from a 1/2 ton with the part numbers ground down,

Hey KenHilton, can you tell me what the part number is for the GM half ton t-bar keys?  I have been looking for this information now for quite some time.  It looks like you may be able to help me out.  I think the part number is stamped on the keys.  Or maybe you would be willing to sell me your half ton keys? I have an HD truck and want to raise up the front some.  Let me know. Thanks.  :thumb:

we just need to prove the 1/2 ton keys are the 3/4 ton keys that are being sold on ebay.

like i have said before, the ones i got for my truck appeard to be gm, but just reindexed slightly. now we may have an answer as to the application these are from.

i will go to my dealer and see if they have a key in stock and i will compare to my stock 3/4 ton hd key. if it indexed differently i will post the part number.

I would like the 1/2 ton part numbers that fit the 2500 HD as well.

Dealer I called couldnt even find what I was talking about in his computer and I spent 45 minutes on phone.

How much lift can you get by just adjusting up the torsions with the stock keys?
