Bought a Dodge and I feel dirty!

My wife's 06 pathfinder was starting to leak coolant into the tranny, well know issue for the 06 and we are just out of our 100k extended warranty. Kind of a dick move to drop it on someone else but the tranny and new radiator was upward of 7k out of pocket. Wife has been wanting a charger for a few years now. Today we bought her a 2011 Charger with 1400 miles about $7500 off of sticker and looks like it rolled of the assembly line. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with the new body style charger and any issues with dodge in general from a service standpoint. We got the remaining 3 year 36k and 5 year 100k power train warranty. Never owned a Dodge and a little out of my comfort zone. She loved it and would have no less and the only reason I agreed was someone else took the new car price hit before me. Apparently was a older gentleman who passed away about 4 months after buying it cash and his daughter sold it back to a dealer for some fast cash.

I don't have any expierence with the charger but my wife has the 11 avenger, and we are coming up on 15000 miles on it with no issues yet. We have been very happy with it. What engine did you get in the charger? does it have the 8sp tranny?

We got the 3.6 V6 ...... Like I said its for the wife and she has no use for a V8 not to mention several K more for the RT with the V8, plus insurance is higher and better fuel mileage with the V6. She has always liked the look of a charger but could care less for the performance side. As far as the 8 speed from what I read it only came out in 2012 so to answer that no it has a 5 speed but does have the shiftable transmission which I thought was kind of cool the wife looked at me like I was speaking Spanish to her like WTH?. I will say this about the car for a first impression, the interior looks really nice and well made as opposed to many dodge products I have seen from previous years even in my opinion a huge upgrade from the 2010 chargers. The ride and the road noise factor also was a big wow for me, very quite and has a very smooth ride. From everything I have read looks like we can expect 19-22 mpg city and 27-30 hwy which a big improvement over the pathfinder, so as long as the boss is happy and it's a dependable car I will give dodge a thumbs up ..... We shall see!

Not to start a bashing thread but it just seems with japanese cars when stuff goes wrong the price adds up real fast

I have a inside friend at a Nissan dealer who erased all the tranny codes for me without linking to the VIN as a service issue so I could trade it. I had another pathfinder years ago a 2001 that was 4k over the power train and the motor blew a week after I bought it and cost me 6k to replace and rebuilt the transmission 10k later all happened with less than 75k on it and Nissan did nothing to help. So needles to say I will never own another one and wasn't gonna be left holding the bag on another costly repair. I just hope it goes out on the dealer and not the poor guy who buys it. Like I said kind of a dick move but I already paid my dues on the first one.

There is a warranty extension on this Nissan coolant in trans oil issue. The warranty covers the rad and the trans if it is consequential damage. We have fixed lots of them.

A buddy of mine has a 2011 Rt. He has had problems with the keyless entry, I don't know if yours has that option or not but he said its a big issue with them.

Funny you mention that the passenger handle doesn't work on mine. At first I thought it was a setting maybe that needed to be changed to activate one or the other for safety reasons like unlocking most doors with a remote the first click will just open the drivers doors. Turns out having the key fob within five feet of either door will unlock the keyless entry by placing your hand on the handle. I have read numerous threads tonight about many experiencing this issue when taking delivery on new cars. From what I understand it's a moisture issue that didn't happen till these were in contact with rain or humidity and probably wasn't present when check at the factory. I thing dodge finally resolved this around January / Feb with a third generation handle. I will hold of a few weeks or so before having it fixed just to make sure I don't have any other problems that need to be addressed at the same time.

Owned nothing but GM (mostly Ponitacs) for 40 years. GM has not built a car I would drive (except maybe the Corvette) since 1994. So when the 1994 was done, bought a Challenger. Year later when the Yukon was ready to go, bought a Jeep. No problems or regrets at this point. When the 98 K1500 was time to go, stuck with GM for the ext cab, LB.

Sorry GM, if a car it isn't RWD, I'm not driving it.
