Knock in front end over bumbs

Recommended Posts

I installed my RC leveling kit a couple of weeks ago and ever since it seems I have a knock over bumps. Sounds like it is in the drivers side but not a for sure. I have tightened and retightened the sway bar links and tightened up the upper ball joints since I couldn't get a torque wrench on it. Not sure what is going on. Could it be the front shocks maxing out? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

More than likely, yes, unless there is something loose.

I had the same thing happen on an old truck of mine. My problem was something was loose, so go back and retighten everything. If its making a knock over small bumps, then somehting is loose. You shouldn't be maxing out your shocks with normal road bumps.

Depends on how many miles are on the shocks. If not much then I would assume something is loose.

OK the only things I loosened were the sway bar links and the upper ball joint nut. Just want to double check that both should be 37 ft lbs correct? I think I may check the strut mounts as well just in case they moved when i was installing the kit. Thanks guys!

I have a 2009 ext cab with a 2" RC leveling kit and you are correct on the 37 ft lbs. If the strut moved and you didn't loosen the 3 nuts on the top of the strut mount then I would check them also.

RC leveling kit DOES NOT affect shock lenght as its just a block on the bottom of the strut.. More then likely something is loose.
