To level or not to level?

Recommended Posts

Just picked up the new truck, lid's on its way. Trying to decide whether to level the front. I wonder if it will impact towing- how the truck will ride. Also, I can clear my parking garage now (by about 2 inches), I'm assuming leveling the front 2 inches won't raise the cab 2 inches. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

You won't have any impact to your ride. Leveling the truck does just that. It raises the front so you don't have the old school rake. The reason manufacturers put the rake into the trucks is so when loaded, the truck will sit "level" and not look like the ass is dragging. With that said, if you level the truck and you put a load in the rear. The rear is going to look like it's got a load. For me, i don't mind that since I'm not loaded or towing very frequent. When towing the camping trailer, the load levelers kept the truck/trailer "level".

As far as fitting in the garage, it's going to raise the roof some... you'll just have to see if it still fits

And Congrats on the new truck.

I've seen plenty of leveled trucks with stock tires that don't look "rediculously stupid"

Yea I was thinking the same. Tires are expensive to change all around . Would make a lot more sense to just wear out the ones that came with the truck and then change them if you want.

OK well the one that is in the lot here looks stupid to me, maybe they all don't and I just don't notice those. The one here may have to zone 2" on it or something too I don't know but the tires look like maypop spares

Yes I did , it is the only one I have noticed that was leveled and feel it looks stupid with the stock size tires on there. Would it have mattered if I saw 10 that looked stupid with stock tires? It is just my opinion why ya gotta be a dick?

I leveled my truck and just got done leveling my brother's truck. RC level was nice. 4wd can make it a little difficult to open some space under the strut but it can be done because I did mine all on my own. Getting tires tomorrow. I will post later

I dont have a 900, but Im running a leveling kit in the front, a 2" AAL (actually got 2.5" out of it) in the back to regain the rake, and a 3" BL. All together I netted around 4" in the front, and 5.5" of lift in the back, all on factory 265-70-17 tires. Personally, I dont think it looks that bad.

To the OP, personally, with that small of a window, I wouldnt try it. The leveling kit will raise the cab some, but how much depends on total wheel base. The shorter the truck, the more drastically it will affect cab clearance. And, when you add the level, eventually you will add bigger tires thus raigin the truck anothe inch or so. Then you may be finding anothe parking space. Just too close for my comfort, but thats just me.

I prefer the look of a slight rake, just not factory height. I think that the 900s look pretty sweet on about a 2 - 2.5" lift all around (level and AAL) rolling on 285s. That makes them just right in my eyes. But again, that would probably be too tall for your situation.
