Lowered Fred! Finally dropped the truck...

Recommended Posts

Finally lowered my truck. Been kicking it around forever... Went with McGaughy's spindles, coil springs, plus rear leaf springs with shackles and some BellTech NotroDrop shocks (which will be replaced with air-ride shocks next week). Ended up cutinf off the rear frame brackets and ordering some Suspension Technologies progressive bumpstops. Lots involved but the result is great so far.

I like it! Handling is much improved and the ride is near stock.

Tell me what you think.

Looks good to me Bones!! I like trucks that sit like yours does. Those that drag the ground or use air to go up and down I could care less about. We lowered our first truck a 74 GMC in 80. It does not run today but my brother still has it.:jester:

Thanks for your comments!

Tires are 275-55-20s and I have clearance at all angles. Nothing rubs, but they are pretty close to the inner fender at full lock. Next I'm doing some more exhaust work - sort of reworking a custom system that is already there. I already have a BB tune and some other goodies.

Truck looks awesome. Whats the total drop in inches?

Overall drop is 3.5 inches in front and 6 inches in the rear. There is a ton of wheel gap on these trucks. I wanted to go lower but keep a nice ride.

Looks good. Dropped, but not dragging. Nice to see someone going against the majority of lifting the front end in order to get the truck level. (But folks, if that is your thing, more power to you. Just not my style. But I digress...)
