raffi
Hey guys, I bought a 2006 z71 crew cab. it has 305/50/20s and Rancho 9000 shocks. The ride over pumps is extramly bouncy. What causes this? did the orignal owner crank the torrsion bars? If He did how can i tell? Its a great truck this is the only thing that bothers me. thanks
Carder09
WWhen you say bouncy is it stiff in the shocks or loose? Stiff can make it jounce around a bit, while softer is more absorbing but can travel through the truck like a wave type motion.
raffi
Not stiff. seems like your on a bouncing ball untill it mellows out. There are a few transitions on the freeway that go from asphault to concrete that throw me up out of my seat. As I took a jump. This is at 60 65mph
raffi
that was one of the question that I had. What should I look for? Should the bolt be tightened down or loose.
Morgan1986
Shocks could be worn out .
NitroCherokee
Rancho 9000's have 5 or 9 ride settings depending on how old they are. There is a small black knob on the lower end of the housing turn it one direction or the other till it rides like you want
cparks555
Shocks could be worn out . This is what I'm thinking also, had a truck with worn shocks in high school and it felt like a trampoline going down the road.
chakis24
im thinking shocks...either worn or adjustable. if you were cranked the ride would be stiff, not soft and wavy as you describe. did you check your tire pressure? could be low- would also cause for a soft ride. to check if your shocks are worn push down hard on the bumpers to simulate going over a bump (more like jump off of them lol) and if your truck bounces more than once theyre probably worn. kstruckcountry
Could be shocks AND cranked t bars. I always thought my buddies truck with cranked bars felt jouncy. Shocks would only add to the problem.
Zembonez
305-50-20 can also be a harsh mofo... especially if the bars are cranked or somebody added super stiff shocks.
