Westin Oval Tube Steps

Shaners

Recommended Posts

I ordered them in March and Westin finally decided to make them.  They released the reg cab and excab bars this fall, but it took until now for the crewcab bars.  I am glad I waited, and unlike some other Westin products the instructions were good and the instal was super simple.  Sorry the truck is so dirty, but it is December and I do live in PA.

Wow, those are really nice bars!  :thumb:

What kind of price did you get? Can they come in wheel to wheel style?

From the pic of the door, it looks like it is pretty close to the cab. Is there any problem with getting a foot on them or is it just an illusion I see?

no need to reply shaners.  I got a better look and checked out westins website.  They do have the black aluminum but i was told if they scratch they leave a nice silver line.  Mine are pretty scratched up (scuffed it more like it).  I am taking mine off this spring.  Dont know if ill clean em up and put em back on, buy new ones, or leave em off

Roofer, they only go to the back of the cab.  They don't make them any longer than that.  They are Chrome Plated Aluminum and have a lifetime warranty.  I think I paid about $440 delivered with the mounting brackets.  They are adjustable in and out, and I think mine are pulled out almost as far as they go.  There is plenty of step pad to put your foot on.  These bars are 4"x6"  where as most nerf bars are either 3" or 4" round.  Believe it or not those two extra inches make a big difference.

The black ones are powder coated, and they also have a lifetime warranty on the finish (if I read the warranty sheet correctly)

Looks good.  How much clearance is there between the steps and the rockerpanels?  I like'm close.

Also, do they warranty agaist corrosion?  I live in MN.  Land of 10,000 lbs of salt per mile.

If you look straight down on them there is about 1" of gap.  I'll dbl check after work this AM.  They can be slid in closer if you like because the brackets are slotted where the bolt up to the body mounts.  Between the steps and the mudflaps, I think I'll have pretty good protection from road debri.  Much better protection than a Nerf Bar gives you.

Westin has a lifetime warranty on their finish.  They salt the crap out of the roads here too, so I'll test them out this winter.

If you mean how far do they hang down then the answer is not real far.  Maybe just a few inches below the rockers, but since the door sill is so high when the door is open it prabaly is a 6" step from the top of the bar to the door sill.  Actually, if you look at them straight on while squatting down, they appear to have the top of the bar about level with the crimped sheet metal at the bottom of the rockers.

The bottom of the bars are much higher than the bottom of the frame rail.
