Dual tank diverter valve

Recommended Posts

1976 454 trailering special, 2 wheel drive, long bed.

I've got to drop the fuel tanks to replace the original fuel lines due to fuel leaks.

Dad said this diverter valve went bad years ago. I can't remember what went wrong but he seems to think the fuel pump would pull fuel from one tank but send the remainder to the other. Or it would't pull from the other tank.

He said if the valve was accessible without having to drop the tanks, to leave it alone but if I had to drop the tank to get to it, to replace it while I had the tank(s) dropped.

I looked underneath the truck and could not find the valve. I would think it would be mounted somewhere on the frame. Any idea where it's located? Thanks.

On the inside of the right framerail just about under the passenger seat IIRC,maybe in front of the right tank....been a long time :dunno: Is this a factory setup?Does it have a switch on the dash just below the radio?

If you need to buy one here's LMC Truck's offering....

Inside passenger side frame rail. Under the cab. Can't miss it. Unless he has an aftermarket system rigged up

Should be about 6" of rubber hoses on both sides. 4 on one side, 2 on the other. Single electric wire

Should look like this:

Part is available at a good local parts store. About $60 IIRC

I've still got '79 and '80 model trucks with dual saddle tanks
