Question for the DURAMAX guys

Recommended Posts

Taken directly from the 2012 Silverado service manual on the DPF system for the LML Duramax engine........

"In general, the vehicle will need to be operating continuously at speeds above 48?km/h (30?mph) for approximately 20–30?minutes for a regeneration to complete."

"Vehicles operated at prolonged low speed or low loads where normal regeneration does not occur will eventually reach a high soot load condition."

And straight from the 2012 Duramax engine owners manual supplement.......

"Notice: Extended idle should be avoided because the DPF system is not capable of self cleaning at idle. During extended idle operation, monitor the instrument panel telltale lights and Driver Information Center for messages and take appropriate indicated action. Continued idling with the warning light/message on could cause irreversible damage to the DPF requiring repair and possible replacement that might not be covered by the vehicle warranty."
