Diablosport Predator - 2010 gasser. What will it do for me?

Well, I see it like this! When you have a product that is good or speak for itself, it sells!(BlackBear) We don't see Justin on here trying to knock other people stuff or sell his stuff even when other programmers are mention! This Diablo guy seems to jump in a lot of tune thread and try to sell his product and sometimes try to throw a little jab in at other programmers/tuners! With that being said, I think the proof is in the pudding after you have read over and over how custom tunes are better than the can tunes! Not only with Blackbear, but Wheatly, Wester's and others!

So you're telling me a predator is going to do absolutely nothing at all for me? I'm still pretty confused... can someone go into detail about what the predator can do compared to the black bear tune? I just like that trinity...
The trinity is an awesome tool, and will wake your truck up big time.

I wont questionthat a customtune is also a good idea, but you dont get a tool to flash the vehicle back to stock, or to datalog without a PC, or any way to read or clear trouble codes.

Plus the Trinity has all the cool on screen logging and virtual gauges :)

As mentioned, the Trinity has TCM support as well, let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks

So Whats exactly will the TCM support do for me? I know this thing isn't going to be like my duramax in the power area and I feel like no matter what tune I go with I won't be very excited at all.

You gett he ability to increase shift firmness or adjust the shift points at WOT and part throttle, in both normal and tow haul mode, in addition to our preloaded TCM tunes.

I think you'll be surprised at how much they wake up, its no diesel gain, but they are held back quite a bit from the factory.

Only reason I wanted the inTune in the first place was because Diablo claims they retain the factory warranty as long as returned back to stock before going to the dealer. I'm not real sure of that claim either.

Well, dont bother testing that claim if you went and flashed it with HPt, if you did, they WILL be able to see it. I'll stand behind that claim all day long though, as I know it to be true.

Did not flash with HP Tuner. That's why I bought the inTune. But unfortunately with the bad luck with it I have no tune now.

i currently have a diablosport trinity on my truck, only because i used it in my camaro. if i didn't already have it, i would've gone with a blackbear tune when they came to town.

they now have TCM Support for gm gas vehicles, only available on the trinity. i can say it made a big difference when i updated my programmer and installed the new tune. but for the money, you are better off having it done by blackbear or your local dyno tuner.

you can get a custom tune done for your truck/Trinity by a diablosport CMR custom tuner (like myself) to gain even more ya know.. ;) you'll gain even better/quicker throttle response & acceleration, stronger/harder pull, and usually even a little better mileage - if you can keep your foot out of it haha...

OP, hold off on the Predator. Mike just announced today on the DiabloSport forum that TCM support is finished for the inTune and should be available to us shortly!
I already tried the inTune. Had to send it back! Couldn't get a tune from Jannetty Racing that gave me anymore power. And the tune that came with it felt like it was going to destroy my tranny. And tranny support isn't even available yet!

If the inTune was no good for you and felt like it was going to destroy something, the Predator will be no different. They come with the exact same "canned tunes".

Maybe you would be better off with a Black Bear custom tune.

Definitely better going with the Black Bear but only reason I went with Diablo is they claim it retains the factory warranty when returned to stock. Nobody else has that claim. For now I'm going with my stock tune so I can keep my warranty. Assming Diablo's claim is true as I've had their tune in my truck. I would buy another tuner if they guaranteed not to void the factory warranty.

I think something happened when they covertered their files over from the Predator to the inTune as something happened to a minimum timing table causing the tranny to feel as though it was being destroyed at shift during WOT. Don't think it was not the same tune as in the Predator as that mistake would have been fixed long ago.

What exactly was going on with it, did it feel like this with the canned tunes or was this after the custom tune by the people that were unable to tune your truck?

Get in touch with Lew, "06Montess", he'll get you taken care of, unlike the guys who attempted your tune, he knows what he's doing and is good at it!

Jannetty Racing was able to fix the timing table that was in error causing the tranny problem but could not add more power to my truck. He had never tuned a 2011 5.3 before based on what my HP Tuner file recorded. He gave me a 11.29 AFR. That's not going to get the job done on an n/a engine. I've never seen any n/a make close to optimum power with less than a 12.0 AFR. He said he had tuned many 5.3s but I'm not even sure about that. Lew wants more money to send a tune to the inTune. I had already paid Jannetty extra for a custom tune was not going to pay double just because the guy I bought from didn't know how to tune it. Diablo sells to anybody. You have to be sure when you buy if you plan on a custom tune that they know what they are doing.

Didn't Jannetty Racing refund your money? They should if you paid for a tune and they were unable to get it right....Sorry to hear you had bad luck.

Custome tunes are not free, Lew charges a very reasonable price and will adjust it for you if needed..I understand you don't want o spend any more money, I wouldn't either. You should be refunded by the people who didn't know what they were doing though, that would be the right thing to do.

I paid $444.55 for the inTune and received a refund of $343.20. Even though he did not know how to tune my truck it still cost me $101.35. That doesn't include the shipping to get it back to him nor all the fuel I burned being his test mule. I think too I should have gotten a full refund if he couldn't do what he said he could. And he said I was lucky to get a refund at all as his return policy doesn't include electrical parts. That's BS under these circumstances.

What a jerk, it doesn't matter what his return policy says. DiabloSport has a 30 day satisfaction period that he needs to follow while selling their products....That is BS not getting full refund, you didn't get full services, not your fault they don't know what they are doing................. Hope you have better luck with your next tune/tuner.

I asked several guys at Diablo for help getting a refund but they said they could not help me. I would have had to purchased it from them to get a full refund within the 30 days they advertise.

They should not sell to shops that don't know how to tune!

If you have the AutoCal from BB, you can return your truck back to the stock tune, both ECM and TCM.

Diablo advertises will not.
