Diablosport Predator - 2010 gasser. What will it do for me?

Hi guys, I have a 2010 5.3 with the 6 speed and flex fuel. My old truck was a 2003 lb7 duramax and I had it tuned with a predator and LOVED it! I did look into the predators for my gasser when I bought it last summer but I think people were waiting on it to be able to adjust shift points or something to do with the tranny? Has this happened yet?

I'm just curious what the advantage of this product would be for me with my gasser. I don't really have any desire to put an aftermarket exhaust system on this truck, for some reason i'm just not into that big bad loud truck with mudders on it anymore. However, the trinity monitor system looked pretty cool at first look and i'm just a sucker for electronics. I do believe that the truck needs something though with how slugish it is at take off and it seems like it's always searching for gears and never finds the right one and sticks with it like my allison did in my duramax. Hope to get some kind of answers on how this can if at all benefit me. Thanks!!!

Don't get a Predator, it will NEVER be able to adjust your shift points or do anything with the tranny on your truck. Even though DiabloSport had said for years "we're working on it", "it's coming soon", then they finally say it's not possible due to memory.

DiabloSport released their new inTune in December and we were told that TCM support would be available for our trucks......STILL nothing months later. They flat out lied about it saying, "all we have to do is port it over from the Trinity", "a few weeks". Then they said "this stuff takes time, it's not easy". That's after being told it was going to be available in December of last year. It's obvious they made that up to push their product onto us guys that had a Predator and were lied to about that also.

I would suggest NOT going with DiabloSport, they are not honest with the customer and purposfully mislead and lie to you.

Save yourself a few hundred dollars and don't waste your money buying anything from their company!

Well he also failed to mention that BlackBear Performance offers all you want and maybe more for less mostly. Contact Jenna on here and she can get you started

x2

Can't say it does nothing, but BB will give you more  I had the Diablo sport and got the Custom tune from BB and it was night and day :dunno:

The trinity is far different than the Sport. I can tell you what it did for me

I used a Diablo sport on my 2007 Vmax. The biggest improvement it made was in throttle response. The factory throttle delay on the Vmax was nothing short of HORRIBLE. When I purchased it, I was fairly active on the diablo and the promise of TQ management and the ability to modify shift points never happened. Out of the box tune, I really didn't feel that much of a difference in programming/performance other than the throttle delay "issue" was fixed. Once I dialed in the LTFT's and a few other tweeks, the truck did feel stronger, and had a more consistant power band. The truck seemed to pull stronger and smoother. I had a custom tune created for my truck by a fellow diablo tuner and the truck was once again... a hair smoother. Also the mileage was up 1-2mpg better over stock. I wouldn't say it was worthless or did absolutely nothing because it did quite the opposite.

With that said,.... I wanted more.

So I decided to get a custom tune from Justin at Blackbear performance. We had a semi-local tune meet that I attended so I got an inperson tune from him. Awesome guy. I had the chance at a nice comparison. Back to back tunes to see what the differences would be. Once Justin uploaded the 93 performance tune and transmission modifications, we went for a drive. Immediately I could tell the truck had more power and was more responsive. The shifts were stronger, firmer and moved up in the RPM range. The removel of torque management allowed the truck to come off the line much harder. Justin monitored how the truck was performing while we were on the test drive, and he made a few final tweeks and we finished the drive. In the end, the truck felt stronger, pulled harder, the transmission felt better, shifted better and I was able to maintain the 1-2mpg better over stock with even more performance than the Diablo sport provided. My experiance with both tunes on the same truck proved to me the Custom tune that Justin provided was much better than the Diablo.

When I traded the Vmax for the 6.2L, the first mod on my mind was a custom tune. He did his magic on the new truck and I couldn't be happier too. Although I didn't see a mileage improvement after the tune, but the power felt stronger and shifted WAY better than stock.

Hope that helps

i currently have a diablosport trinity on my truck, only because i used it in my camaro. if i didn't already have it, i would've gone with a blackbear tune when they came to town.

they now have TCM Support for gm gas vehicles, only available on the trinity. i can say it made a big difference when i updated my programmer and installed the new tune. but for the money, you are better off having it done by blackbear or your local dyno tuner.

So you're telling me a predator is going to do absolutely nothing at all for me? I'm still pretty confused... can someone go into detail about what the predator can do compared to the black bear tune? I just like that trinity...
The trinity is an awesome tool, and will wake your truck up big time.

I wont questionthat a customtune is also a good idea, but you dont get a tool to flash the vehicle back to stock, or to datalog without a PC, or any way to read or clear trouble codes.

Plus the Trinity has all the cool on screen logging and virtual gauges :)

As mentioned, the Trinity has TCM support as well, let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks

Not entirely true. You can purchase AutoCal to take care of those needs

So Whats exactly will the TCM support do for me? I know this thing isn't going to be like my duramax in the power area and I feel like no matter what tune I go with I won't be very excited at all.

Get an HP Tuner Pro with a wideband and you can do it all. Only way to go! Yep, you will need a lap top but complete tuning capability and not that hard to learn how. All kinds of help on the HPT forum.

I sent an email to Diablo and asked if they could do a few things to my tranny for my truck. I could list the items here but in any case they said their tranny support wouldn't do those things. And they were simple changes.

Only reason I wanted the inTune in the first place was because Diablo claims they retain the factory warranty as long as returned back to stock before going to the dealer. I'm not real sure of that claim either.

You gett he ability to increase shift firmness or adjust the shift points at WOT and part throttle, in both normal and tow haul mode, in addition to our preloaded TCM tunes.

I think you'll be surprised at how much they wake up, its no diesel gain, but they are held back quite a bit from the factory.

Well, dont bother testing that claim if you went and flashed it with HPt, if you did, they WILL be able to see it. I'll stand behind that claim all day long though, as I know it to be true.
