Readylift sst 4" anyone have this

Recommended Posts

I know there are several folks on GMFS that are running the FTS 4" kit (exact same as the Readylift but cheaper...readylift is all overpriced) and have put a ton of miles on them and have no complaints. The angles aren't that bad either to be honest...the same as a 2" leveling spacer.

I was deciding between the 4" FTS and the 5" RCX, and right now I'm leaning towards the 4" FTS because in a few years I may want to drop the truck or do a prerunner build, so being able to lift and not cut any crossmembers would be great.

I just jumped over to Fabtech's website, the 4" lift looks pretty tempting, $700.00 and free shipping from a couple different places. I see no reason why a guy couldn't run stock wheels with this kit either, glad to hear some are running it with no issues.

Yea fabtechs is a little cheaper but at a offroad shop here I can get the readylift for 850 and you get better differently drop brackets and balljoints are already pressed in I'm considering stacking my leveling kit with the 4" readylift I have the leveling kit now just an idea but I will have to check the angels first anyone done this?

Here's my .02. I wouldn't put any of those kits on my truck. They do nothing to address the LCA or TRE's and drop the diff at most 1.5". With that said, I wouldn't even consider trying to stack an additional leveling kit with any of them. IIRC, I have come across threads on GMFS concerning the bad ride quality of both the RL and FTS kits. If money is tight I would go with either the Rough Country 5" or a body lift / leveling kit combo.

I'm planning on putting a 3" BL with my 2" RC leveling kit to achieve my lift. Seems a lot cheaper and easier for the money. Plus I already have factory style steps to hide the exposed frame so it should look fine. Just my opinion though. :dunno: What ever you decide show us pics when your done. :lurk:

It's obvious that no matter what is said, he has his mind made up about buying the 4" Readylift kit. The FTS rode like garbage IMO which is why I ditched it for the spindles and coilovers I have now, and I guarantee you that the Readylift won't ride any better no matter how many people tell you it rides better. They're sales people and are trained to do that. I compare the ride to stock and the 4" FTS was VERY harsh when bumps were encountered on the road, so much as so the steering wheel moved when they were hit. The control arms help with downtravel, but I still bottomed the truck out with the kit had ZERO off-road excursions.

Does a BDS require cutting ? I will not cut anything on my truck either .

I stopped and had my friend look at what you get with the RL kit. He said he does not see a problem with it at all. Its basically what they call a hybrid lift that crosses the lines of spacer and suspension UCA's. I am also considering this kit. My friend who has been at this for 30 years told me that ANY lift will put strain's on suspension and components and this one will be not different .

One thing I like about this kit was the relatively easy install (for a shop , not me in my garage...lol) and also being able to return back to stock if you choose to do so if you trading in your vehicle since a lift de-values a truck so much on trade in.

BDS is a well built kit, and therefore requires a subframe. You will need to cut but it can be returned to stock. As simple as it is to cut the crossmember, you can weld it right back in. While I agree with your friend about lifts putting stress on parts, there is a difference. By dropping the subframe with a properly designed kit, you are returning everything to at or near stock geometry. Not so with a "Hybrid" kit. Those glorified leveling kits are for incomplete and you will be putting 4" of angle on the LCA's and TRE's. 90% of the time, people will not admit that what they bought really ain't that good, so just keep that in mind. And never, listen to a salesman.

I won't be stacking but I m not going to cut up my crossmembers either

Why not? It can be returned to stock. There is a reason that most kits require a subframe. Keep that in mind.

I couldn't agree more with these posts. You get what you pay for. If you can't afford to do it right then you can't afford to do it at all PERIOD!!!

SImply put when you do it cheap and find out it sucks it costs just that much more to do it right.

But it's your truck, I installed what I wanted and liked, you should do the same. Just remember the only true way to learn anything is to make mistakes.

I wouldn't be doing anything to save cash , I am a do it right the first time guy. At 1st I did the DS kit but all together with kit and alignment my friend did it for like 275 so no big deal to take it off and start over. I don't mind spending the $$ for quality whether it be a BDS or a CST or Rancho 4".
