Colorado truck steep pricing

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a 2012 Colorado crew pickup with the Z71 package and 4WD, and the 5.3 engine and the sticker price was over 35K! And unlike full size trucks, rebates and discounts are slim to none. The lowest price they would go was $ 33,500! I like the truck, but not at this price. I can get a new 2012 HD2500 4X4 truck for that.

I think that 5.3 V8 offered in the Colorado does not have the AFM system.

the motor is slightly detuned to 300 hp and no it does not have afm. if memory serves correctly they do not offer the 5.3 in all models. i don't think it is offered in 4x4 but i have been wrong before!!

On the extended cab, you could get the 5.3 with only 2 wd, but on the crewcab you had the option of the 5.3 with either 2wd or 4wd. At least according the website anyway. However, I agree with pm26, for the price you pay I'd rather stay with a fullsize and get all the added benefits (including the extra power).

Some of us wish to have a smaller truck. That's it.

Price. Well there was the $1,500 GM points taken off.

$1,000.00 Rebate.

$1,000.00 Customer Loyalty.

And there are others scattered around the country. AARP membership $1,000.00 off while others got $750.00 for membership in USAA. Other got $750.00 for membership in a credit union.

All or most of these apply to full size trucks.

My 4 cylinder 4 X 4 2012 Colorado fuel mileage beats any full size truck.

Then there are the fleet sales. Many utilities and businesses purchase small trucks. Why should GM give up this market?

Apparently not enough people and businesses want a smaller truck. I like the option of a small truck, just doesn't make sense in my current household. Now once the kids are out of the house...???

My neighbor has a 2WD GMC Cayon crew cab with the Z71 package and large factory wheels/tires. His gas mileage is terrible: 12MPG in town! My full size 4WD crew cab Silverado Z71 with the non AFM 5.3 gets about 15 MPG in town! So much for good mileage on smaller trucks. I think those large wheels kill the mileage on Colorados and Canyons.
