Colorado truck steep pricing

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a 2012 Colorado crew pickup with the Z71 package and 4WD, and the 5.3 engine and the sticker price was over 35K! And unlike full size trucks, rebates and discounts are slim to none. The lowest price they would go was $ 33,500! I like the truck, but not at this price. I can get a new 2012 HD2500 4X4 truck for that.

I think that 5.3 V8 offered in the Colorado does not have the AFM system.

The price gap between midsize and fullsize is nonexistant in many cases once you add on options. That 5.3 is also a less powerful version and the trans is the 4L60 which I personally see as a disadvantage when the other two players (Toyota and Nissan) have 5-speed autos that drive lots nicer IMO.

Simply stated, thanks to the gas mileage craze, nothing beats a full size for the buck, gas mileage be damned! This was just written by a guy who drives ~2-3K miles/year.

Totally agree. Even if you go on the cheap with a Colorado, you're not going to save much on operating costs over the full size. My father has an 06 Colorado Ext cab with 4x4 and the big 4 cyl motor. It just kills him that my Silverado crew 4x4 with the 5.3 runs just about the exact same gas mileage. Considering the operating costs and with the rebates on the big trucks, I don't see how dealers move as many Colorados as they do.

Some people like the small feel of a canyon or Colorado. Plus they would make unreal off road trucks with the short wheelbase and 5.3. Personally I like a full size but I can understand why someone woul be looking for a midsize

I had an 05 Colorado with the 5 cylinder and traded it for my 2008 Silverado 5.3 engine. It was the best thing i've ever done. I was getting 16/18 mpg city and 23/25 highway with the Colorado and with the Silverado I get 14/16 and 21/23 mpg's respectively. I also have a "REAL" truck now and wouldn't think twice about going back. From a price point stand you can buy a full size for the same if not less than the Colorado. My 2 cents!

The Colorado / Canyon are good little trucks and work well for what they are made for, still no reason to have them priced the same as a full size. There is actaully a lot of people that prefer the smaller trucks. My first vehicle was a Chevy S-10 and I loved that thing, it would go just about anywhere and took a beating.

It may sound kind of funny but some people are not able to park a full size truck, don't know why they just cant do it.

Well i want one but don't want to pay the high price for one . I want to pull it behind my 40 DP motorhome. he great thing about the Colorado is it weighs around 3800-4000 lbs. A extended full size weighs 5200lbs. I want to use it to load my 1999 Valkyrie IS in the back. It would be an easy way to haul the bike but now you cant find one. Oh and I can park it just about anywhere I want to.
