Yup gears topic again

Recommended Posts

My searching fails.

I got a 4'' rancho lift with 35'' tires. I got 3.42 right now. Would 4.10 be ideal for me. I do mostly highway driving and when im home from work I hit the beach and prob the only 4x4 action it sees, other then the lease roads i drive down and might need 4x4 due to bad rain and washed out roads. Right now i can get 20mph driving 55-60mph Now if i do 70-75 i get 12.8-14.1mph.

Inbetween 3.73-4.10.

Thanks fellas.

Having the 6-speed, you could go either way either 3.73 or 4.10. I'd sooner have to much than not enough so I'd vote for 4.10's

What i figured, just wanted some input before i spent money and time in to changing gears lol. Thanks again Steven

Before dropping $$ on gears, have you tried just driving in 5th? Going to 4.10 and using 6th is about the same as running in 5th w/ the 3.42s. Your drop in mpgs may be gears, or it may be tires and air resistance from the lift. Are you just looking for a quicker launch?

Hey man, about how much is it costing you to make this gear change?

Just parts, i will do it in my drive way/man cave.

Good luck...gear swap is the one thing I would not do myself.

Lol, its not that complicated as people make it.

Before doing a gear swap, I would also try running it in 5th gear on the highway. If you're not really concerned about the out-of-the-gate accceleration, then running in 5th will help with the whole gear-hunting, TC-unlocking thing. I do that with my truck now, when I'm driving in hilly terrain with a head-wind....because I get tired of it jumping from 6th to 5th all the time. Worth a try...and it's free, lol.
