stock shocks w/ extension.. OR 1-2.5"longer shock

Recommended Posts

Ive done new keys on every HD ive owned and never really messed with the front shocks,

But i want to make the ride on this sierra HD a little better So after i do the new keys im stuck in between using the oem length shock with a pair of those shock extensions...OR getting a new set of shocks that are 1"- 2.5" longer.

What do you guys think would be better, Thanks

You dont need longer shocks with cranked keys as you didnt change the bump stops on the downward travel of the suspension, keep in mind your suspension will bottom out eather up or down before the shocks will. Your harder ride is due the the cranked keys. Even though you put differant keys in it doesnt change the load required on the bars to set your truck level. Thats why aftermarket keys are a waste of money as they just re-index so you can crank more to get more lift but that is limited to the suspension down travel and a whole lot harder ride.

I had an 05 CC LB truck d-max and when i put the new keys in i adjusted them up a little and the front end was tough..a big enough bump and your ass was out of the seat I added the shock extensions and it was much better.

My question now is only to see whats better ..extensions or longer shocks
