Should I do it?

Recommended Posts

I've got a RC 2" level sitting around for my 2011 1500. I'm debating on wether or not to put it on now, wait, or not do it at all. I see that alot of people on here haven't had any problems for many thousands of miles for this kit but I am still paranoid for some reason. My trucks got 12k on it now and it'll need to last me to 120k or so. What are the chances that I make it all the way to 120k without a front end issue? If I don't make it, what will it cost to replace the ball joints? So I guess my choices right now are: put it on next week, wait until my stock tires run out around 35k, or not do it at all? Thanks for the help guys.

I was super paranoid about my truck as well, but I finally said the heck with it and put the level kit in mine. It's been 2.5 years, ~25k miles on it, 91k miles total and still has factory everything in the front end, except tires since they were shot at the time. Chances are you may need front end work regardless of the kit so put it on, enjoy your truck to the fullest and if it breaks, fix it.

Oh and get an alignment after the install, that'll save wear and tear on tires.

That's my .02

If your upper ball joints go bad you will have to replace the entire upper controll arm. The cost of a set of two can be found for a couple of hundered bucks if you shop around. Just put them on and enjoy your truck as stated. If you think youll see 120k without issue on these trucks i think thats a positive dream. My 08 has had a new rear end from the locker in it hanging up and 9 new door lock actuators over the last 3 3/4 years ive owned it. The next time a major issue happens to mine ill just buy a new truck. They sure arent made like they used to be. To much fly by wire tech in them.

I have a 2" RC setting on my work bench that I have had for 2 months now. And I haven't had time to put it on yet. But I will because I can't stand that stupid nose down look on my 2011 Crew cab.

They're damn bright. If I'd do it again I'd go with some driving lights or fog lights instead of the long range lights though. The shine a long dang ways, further then the brights, but I don't really need light that far anyway. I'd rather have the more immediate area around my truck lit up.
