I could tell a story about two toyletas, a '85 and a '89, that both had major problems the dealers couldn't fix, but I'm considerate of bandwidth use. Suffice it to say neither truck made it past 50k miles; no more of that sh!t in this household!

My FIL will probably never buy another Toyota, and one was a mid-eighties Tacoma. He's serious with maintenance/oil-changes/etc. The engine seized at ~37k miles, right outside warranty. Toyota did not assist him, and tried to blame it on him. My old '82 S15 (bought from my dad) would have survived the same kind of abuse in the video above. It had no computer, minimal emissions stuff, and just went, and went, ... and went. I sold it 2 years ago, and I bet it's still never failed to start/go.

All I know is product quality is way better in japan . The Japs use a deviation of 6 compared to us of 3. That just shows you the minds set of product quality here compared to Japan.

The concept of manufacturering by quality control was initiated by an American named Deming. Japanese companies quickly adopted his ideas, improving their quality and costs considerably. US companies ignored him for a long time, but not any more. US manufacturering definitely subscribes to intense quality control today. The phrase "6-sigma" arose from Motorola, which describes their idea of a "perfected" manufacturing process. It's now just another business-school "management practice", right up alongside "total quality management" and "zero defects".

Hello, i have seen your post on following a new ford truck. I have a 2010 F-150 and i am fighting with the ford company. I drive down the road and the drivers side of the box by the tailgate, shakes really bad. According to ford.ca this is normal. That is bullshit. I have had them replace my tailgate bushings cause they went. They are gone again. I have taken it to a few ford garages and get the same dam answer. On some of the ford trucks this excessive bounce is normal i was told. Well i am gonna call them a liar. I went to 3 independant garages and was told i have a faulty box on my truck. They pointed out where by the tailgate there is a gab in my box. I showed this to ford still i get nothing. I wish i never bought this truck. I wanted a chev, and hubby wanted the ford. Well , i feel that ford leaves me no choice but to get the media, to follow my truck with a camera, and have someone in the cab with a camera to get two angles of this problem. When i ask them, why do i keep taking out tailgate bushings, i get they must have been gone. Well of course they are gone from the dam shaking. Repost of reply where ever you can. Ford should not be allowed to treat people who buy their products like this.

A good friend of mine has an 03 Super Crew and the bed is composite. Jumps around like crazy in the mirror as did the composite bed on my 06 Tacoma. Nothing has ever come loose but it does look pretty disconcerting.

I have been driving a 2010 GMC Sierra CCSB Hybrid this week, the box doesn't jiggle like my F-150 and being it has a 6.0 it would beat mine down the 1/4 mile but that is all I can say I liked better. My last truck before the Ford was a 08 GMT900 ECSB Z-71 and I liked it but I gotta say the F-150 is a better truck in my opinion. I towed my trailer up north on Sunday with my Ford then towed it Monday with the company GMC The Ford far outshined the GMC, my Ford is Taller, Wider, Larger Interior, Quieter and just plain feels more like a truck.

Your Ford out towed the GMC because , as you said, it is a Hybrid, that's not a fair comparison. Even though it has a 6.0L it's only rated to tow 5,000lbs. I had a 2005 F150 Lariat with the 5.4L (and a 2002 for that matter) my Silverado out tows both F150's I've had. There are things about both trucks that I like but what'smost important to me is one that will last. Both Ford's I had had tranny issues. The transmission went out in the 05 at 66K miles so I threw in the towel on Ford. I do think they look better but I've always had better luck with anything GM made.
