Well went to the new car show today here in Knoxville. Gm had their Test Drive experience so i signed up. Got to drive a new Sierra crew cab with the 5.3, a new Camaro SS and a Volt. Loved my 10 minutes in the Sierra and Camaro...in the market next year probably for a new truck. The Sierra was really quiet on the road and very comfortable to drive. Had good power with the 5.3... keep in mind i have been driving a 2002 F150 with a 4.6 and 152,000 miles...lol..one day i will have a new Sierra..oh yeah the Maro was a SS Transformers edition...pretty much a blast to drive

Not that I am a Ford fan by any means, but wonder how it compares to a Ford of the same year?

Interested in your take on the Volt as well. I have a 51 mile commute and am interested in one for that and for keeping a few more of my tax $$$ out of the hands of the totally responsible state of ILL tax coffers. (I think I threw up a little on that that thought)

Sorry guys didnt mean to short change the Volt. It is very different driving an electric car. No engine noise at all. Actually very little road noise as well. The electric motor makes gobs of torque off the line. If accelerated prrtty nice. Even took off gojng up hill. The test drive chick said it has a range of about 40 miles on a charge and the gas engine engages to operate the generator to chafge the batteries. If i was in the market for an electric car i would not hesitate. The quality of the construction was almost un Gm-like..very nice finishes inside and out..

SouthCo, the Sierra i drove looks just like yours! I will say this, at first i was kind of dissapointed in the plastic finishes on the door panels of the truck. It just looks cheap and grainy plastic. Then, i wandered over to the Ford display and was checking out the F150. Looked at a Platinum edition F150 Crew cab and it had the exact same grainy plastic on the door panels. And that truck had a sticker price of $48,000!! Ok.. i guess that's fine. I love the look of the Sierra way above the new Fords..

Just comparing what i thought was kind of lame GM interior finished to the Ford.. they are essentially the same. I think the interior door finishes on my 2002 are nice than either of the GMC or Ford i sat in Saturday.

For better or worse, all vehicles are going that route. Honestly, in almost 4 years, mine looks pretty much new... so I'm not complaining. The Tundra has *painted* interior plastic, so be very happy for solid-body colored plastics.

wouldnt painted interior plastic strach off easly and leave ugly marks . Seems like a bad idea . Was looking at a Tundra just down the street looked really nice . was prob a 50 thousand truck tho with all the options it had . nice wheels but then again most trucks look good with a good set of rubber on them .

While that "grainy plastic" may not elicit mass feelings of warmth and comfort for many, I will tell you this: that stuff in my son, "the ultra durability tester"'s '07 'Hoe LTZ has held up extremely well (light/dark Titanium).
