RC 2" Installed & Smiling

Recommended Posts

I'd like to send out a big thank you to all you guys for your input, this is a great forum filled with a ton of great info and a bunch of great people!

I went back and forth and researched to the end of the internet and decided to go with the Rough County 2" leveling kit (hundreds of members can't be wrong lol). The install took me an hour and 45 minutes with air tools and I took my time making sure everything went well. I was 36 1/4" on the front and now at 38 1/4" for dead on 2 inches.

I'm defintiley smiling from ear to ear it's amazing how a $70.00 mod makes all the difference in the world, it looks so much better now. I still have future plans for a Rancho 4" lift and 33" tires but the piggy bank is going to have to get alot fatter first, but for now I'm pretty happy

Looks great, amazing what 2" does! I did 2" ready lift keys in the front and added 2" blocks in the back. I should have leveled it first just to see how it looked but we did the back too while it was up on the lift. I really like keeping the 3" rake but perhaps this is a personal preference and some may think its too much rake. If you are happy leveled then that is awesome... the truck looks great, If you're thinking about lifting the rear, I really like what I got with the 2" blocks. I didn't need to adjust headlights and the rear shocks are long enough that I was fine.

I'll have to post up some pics of the garage it's been a life long goal to have a nice garage and attached "Man Cave" I'm tickled with it.

I was going to go with the Auto Spring 2.5" leveling kit that raises the front 2.5 and the back 1 which gets it level. I knew with this kit I'd be gaining some height front and back then add the 285/70/17 tires for what should be a nice all around look and extra height. However with me having the future goal of a Rancho 4" lift I didn't want to drop anymore money than I had to here in the begining. The Auto Spring kit was $100.00 more than the RC kit but thats an extra $100.00 in the kitty to go towards the Rancho not to mention I can still run the 285's with just the RC kit.

Speaking of headlight adjustment and I guess this maybe a dumb question but I assume if I drop the beams 2" since I raised the truck 2" inches then I should be back to a stock setting? I'll nose it up the garage door and drop them down.

what size rims and tires do you have on it now?

I just leveled mine today but i still have the stock 245/70/17s and i think it looks goofy. lol.

I think the 285s might be too big for me considering my whip isn't a 4x4.

Mine came with 265-70-17 tires and 17" wheels. I want to upgrade tires to a 285-70-17 on the stock wheels. I dont want any rubbing issues and what I've read I shouldn't have with the 2" kit. I know some other members are running that size with the same lift and no issues. Your truck looks nice!

After installing this kit, did you have to readjust your headlights?

From everything I've read it's a good idea but I haven't done it yet.

Maybe the headlight adjustment isn't needed, I just "assumed" it would be needed. If you get people flashing brights then you'll know! haha.

10-4 on the idea of 4" lift later and saving some Benjamins now for that later. I am think about a 4-6" lift when I get tired of the 2" and 33" tires.
