tires & computers

Recommended Posts

about a month ago I wanted to see if the 33x 12.5x16.5 BFG's from my old chevy would fit on my new truck. well they did. only a little rub on the pass. side. if i adjusted the t-bars, i'd probably have no problems. that's besides the point. my real question is that I haven't calibrated the computer so the speedo is off a tad. don't care really, just take it into consideration while driving. will this cause any problems with any other computer controlled functions: ie transmission?

tanks for any and all help, demetri

Your shift points are related to the tire size.  It shouldn't cause any problems, but the shift points won't be optimized.  You can correct it by using a Hypertech programmer, or if you are happy with the way your truck still shifts, and if the power seems adequate, then leave it alone, and always keep in mind that you are traveling faster than your speedo registers.

BTW, Welcome to the forum.  :D

With the 4L80E and the 6.0L I have heard of NO issues with a plus 1 or plus 2 tire size increase.
