1995 Cheyenne 2500

Recommended Posts

I am about to by a new (used) truck.  It is a 1995 Cheyenne 2500 4x4 with a 350.  It is a regular cab long bed.  Tires are 265/75/r16.  It comes with a 7.5' Western snow plow and an ez-dumper.  Has 64,000 miles.  Buying it for $10,000.

Does anyone know what kind of gas mileage this engine gets?

Also, it needs a new exaust.  The muffler is shot (it is hanging by a wire) and there are no pipes beyond the muffler.  Can I get a performance muffler on this truck?  If so, how much would one cost (appx.)?

Any other comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

MPG's would depend on the rear gearing.  I would think 14-15 mpg's would be in line for everyday driving.

I would think you could get a performance muffler and have an exhaust shop do the pipe work for between $100 and $150.

I would go for 15+ unloaded on that truck again depending on the lead in your foot and rear-end.  Goto a muffler shop and just straight that truck it will sound good and won't loose any low end like these new motors. or throw a muffler and tailpipe back on her probly about 150 or so...

Actually that's a TBI 350, and about the most sensitive motor in history to insufficient back pressure.  Stick to Cat-back and don't get carried away or the torque will just vanish.  "How can I get my torque back" is a reoccuring theme on this bulletin board.  My best guess for MPG is 13-15 all around.

I have virtually the same truck 94 K2500 350/5sp. 3.73's with 265's on it I was getting around 12 or so around town and back roads, but I have a heavy right foot also. Also have a 7.5 meyer plow. Thats not too bad of a price for that. I had duals put on from the cat  back for $180- no mufflers, 24" tips though. It isnt that loud if you go with dual 2.5" pipe.
