Just received RC 2" level and 2" rear blocks

Recommended Posts

I ordered my RC level and 2" rear blocks last week and they just arrived. Upon inspection I noticed that the Ubolts were way too long for replacing the rear 1.25" block with a 2". I called Rough Country and they said that the blocks are meant to be stacked on the factory block for a true 2" rear lift. I told them that wasn't what I wanted and I tried to explain this to the guy when I ordered the kit. As far as stacking blocks I have always been told it is a little on the dangerous side and If I wanted to go that route I would have just ordered the 3" rear block kit in the first place. Should I just replace the factory block and cut off the excess U bolts that hang down past the nuts or just send these back and order a 3" rear block? Thanks in advance, this is really aggrevating as I'm ready to get going on the install.

I would go with the 3" blocks instead of stacking them. The blocks that come with the 3" are also very long, propbably the same ones that you have now. Just make sure you have the nuts on them and snugged up by hand before you start cutting. When I did mine, I ended up with 1" of the bolt showing after cutting them. They definately need to be cut, doesn't look right hanging down that far.

The Zone Offroad kit I purchased sounds just like the one you bought. I stacked the 2" block on top of the factory one. I'm not worried about it one bit....the blocks have good centering pins, they fit together very well, and I've got great coverage with the u-bolts. I haven't had a single problem with mine. Now, if you were wanting to stack two 4" blocks or something crazy like that, I would say no....but with two small blocks, I really think it's fine. Just my opinion though, and I"m sure some will disagree.

install the nuts as far as a deep socket will let you, then cut the extra portion of the bolts (about and inch) and then continue tightening. IMO a 3" rear block adds too much rake (looks like factory with 2" leveling kit). but do not cut the U bolts and then try to thread the nut on...

Stacking really becomes an issue when there's not center pin to keep them from possibly moving around. Thats why/when they become dangerous imo.

If these were designed with a center pin so there's no possible way they can move, you'll be fine.

I was told once by somebody that stacking blocks in some states is illegal. So you have that working for you...

That person may have been referring to lift blocks on the front of solid-axle trucks....which is a huge no-no.
