6.2L (L9H) Owners - Get all your questions answered here

Was it possible to get a GMC Sierra (GMT900) with the All-Terrain Package with the 6.2 AND the NHT package so the truck would have 3.73 gears and pull over 10K pounds?


All terrain and 6.2 yes not sure if the NHT pkg was available with the AT option.

Update.  Been looking at 6.2 GMT-900 Sierra and Silverado pickups for some time now.  All 6.2 trucks (Don't know about Denalis) have the 9.5 AXN rear axle and rear disc brakes.

 

Z71 and or All-Terrain with 6.2 not compatible with NHT as that has different rear springs and shocks, not a big deal anyway.

Gm screwed up there and has only in recent times improved.  For all intents their "offroad" packages are simply appearance and the small suspension changes are all available with the NHT package beyond the Rancho shocks.  Oh you want a particular interior package and body color bumpers and grill... well then you can't get the better trailering group.... Just dumb lol. At least now you can get these things and option trucks like the RST trim with the NHT option.

6.2 L92 VS 6.2 L9H. 
L92 2007-2008

L9H 2009-2013

Isn’t the L92 rated lower hp and torque vs the L9H? Thought the L92 was 380hp and L9H was 403hp. Main differences were cam and vvt phaser. L9H was flex fuel compatible. L92 not. 

 

I’ve been looking for a 2009 Tahoe 4x4 with the 6.2 L9H but they are kinda rare since 6.2 was only offered that one year in Tahoe LTZ trim only. This one year config also came with larger rear axle and 6-speed auto.

GMT900  Suburban never got the 6.2. Of course 2007-2013 Yukon and Yukon XL Denali and Escalade came standard with the 6.2 but they were AWD, no selectable 2wd, auto 4hi, 4lo transfer case. 
 

Odd the brochure lists 6.0 available in half ton suburban. Don’t think it ever was except in the hybrid versions and the 2500. 
 

These are getting cheap-ish as the years and miles pile on…

 

What years had valve spring failures or is it any year 6.2?

L92 was tuned for regular gas at 380 horses.  It has VVT.

 

They are out there and they also came with L92 in 2008, RWD only and even more rare.

 

2010 Yukon XL SLT also had L9H, have located about 40 so far.

 

6.0 L76 was available in Yukon XL, Suburban and Avalanche from 2007-2009.  

 

About twice a year we hear of 6.2s with busted valve springs at around 170K, usually #8 or #7 on L92s.

Thanks for the info. Not very interested in the 6.2 and AWD Yukons. I do like the next gen of Yukon 2015+ those are starting to come down in price a bit but will have to wait it out and I’ll still keep my eye out for a 09 tahoe 6.2 which only came is SLT if you want 6.2

I put a new L9H motor in my 2009 Hummer H2 with a Magnuson Supercharger, installed a re-man'd 6L80e & transfer case, installed all Kryptonite front end suspension, new cross-drilled & slotted rotors, 4.88 gears, new front axels from RCV in Pennsylvania, re-balanced the driveshafts 

 

and everything else new too as far as led lights, black door handles, new engine parts that are high performance, tuned it all up and it runs great now...527hp at 5355 rpm with 558 ft.lb. 

 

 

torque...with 37x13.50x22 Nitto Recon Grapplers & Power-Amp retractable running boards. It's my daily driver and is a beast. I just got to hyperdip the chrome gas cap and back of side view mirrors black.
