Adding LEDs to NNBS grill

Recommended Posts

I know it's a knock off of the Ford Raptor, but I liked the looks of the clearance lights up front without having to drill holes in the roof of my truck. For anyone interested in doing something similar, here ya go. Sorry, I didn't think to take photos until half done.

Grill removed first. Four 10mm bolts on top and then 6 clips that come out with a squeeze from pliers.

LED lights wires together. Held in grill by friction, but added a drop of silicone to be safe.

Driver side headlight unbolted, carefull as there are shims and a washer behind one of the bolts. Was not fun looking for them after I dropped both while working at night.

Took awhile to find that elusive third bolt to pull the lamp housing out. Had to crawl under the truck to get to it.

Headlight moved over and parking lamp pulled out for easier access and testing. Brown wire is for park. Green/White for turn.

Connections tested and grill put back together. A few zipties to keep wires out of view/protected. Lamps come on with parking lamp.

Side view. Lamps are PC rated (visible out to 180 degrees).

Lamps blend in pretty well with grill when off. Smoked lenses would have been better though.

This is the light I used, but there are countless others out there. I got these from superbrightleds.com. About $5 for them.

Would've loved to have clear or smoked up front, but couldn't find them.

I got three for the rear, but still haven't figured out how they're going to fit in there. Looking to put them in where the HD's have theirs, but the bumper on the HD has a cutout that the 1500's lack so I'm not sure yet. You have a pic of the modules you put on yours?

The front LED is exactly what I've been wanting to do, like you said, just like the raptor. Only difference is I want to make the 3 amber grill LEDs my DRLs. Got any ideas what wires would be eliminated from headlights and tied into new LEDs? Thanks and looks great
