Hey, This is my first post on the forum so don't be to brutal. I have been searching for information on leveling kits for my baby, and have seen Rough Country thrown around a lot. So here is what I found:

http://www.roughcountry.com/chevy_4wd_leveling_kit.html

Is this a high quality leveling kit?.

Also, will 285/70's R17 fit well, without rubbing the wheel housings?

Thanks

I just installed the kit and it seems to be one of if not the most popular kits. I have 265/70/17 right now with mud flaps and still have a good amount of room. I've been wondering about the 285/70/17 tires my self and have found a lot of post about the max tire size. For all my searching the most general answer I could find was as long as the tire at or under 33 inches and with out mud flaps you should be find. I have seen mixed post about if they will work with the mud flaps. I'm about 4 months out from needing tires but I have already started looking and both NTB and Discount Tire said that the 285/70/17 tire should fit with out any rubbing and Discount said they will mount on for me to make sure it fits with out rubbing. That is all the info I have been able to come across in the past two weeks of searching.

I have a 2009 Sierra 1500 with 285/70 R17's and stock ride height and my tires do no rub, however they are extremely close when I hit bumps (touches the snow on the wheel wells). I can imagine if I fully compressed my suspension it would probably hit the wheel wells slightly. With a levelling kit you will be fine.

You can fit the 285/70/17s just fine with the leveling kit. Get a magnet and see if it sticks. If not you have aluminum, if so you have steel. The only difference in the aluminum and steel kits are the length in the bolts they come with

I just installed the 2" RC leveling kit tonight. Overall, it wasn't too bad. I used the shortcuts I saw in a video on Youtube (loosen, but not remove the sway bar and ball joint nuts). The passenger took a while to get it all lined up, the driver side was pretty easy. I measured the truck wheel well before and after, even though they call it a 2" kit, I only gained 1.5" on each side. It worked out well, I can still get it in the garage even though the radio antenna rubs slightly on the garage door opening.

I'm going to get it aligned first thing in the morning. I haven't driven it on the road yet, so I can't comment on rubbing. I have the stock 20" wheels.

I took a before and after pic and will post them tomorrow. Overall, I'm happy with the look. Even with rear air bags, it looks very slightly raked to the front and it looks like it should. When I out the boat on, it will be about level.

Here's a few photos.....before and after. I can adjust the rear height slightly by adjusting the air pressure in the rear air bags. Make sure to get an alignment after installing any leveling kit. They normally throw the toe setting on the alignment off slightly. Mine was off a little as expected.
