Show me where it said "drag racing expert", son. Besides, who's to say that just because I run my bone stock, daily driver pickup down the strip that I don't drive an 8.90 quick rod car down the same strip on Sundays?

Is that all you got? Seriously? Time for you to go trolling elsewhere "boss". Thanks for playing.

Well, YOU were the one bragging about drag racing a 5000 lb brick...ignoring the fact that the EB has more Tq for actual work, which trucks are designed for, in the RPM range most people spend their time in. Yes, the EB has a lot of things to criticize (FE, sound, etc), but Tq/Liter is not one of them. Just the fact it's 3.5L can match your 6.2L is impressive...regardless of what badge it wears.

How? It has two Turbos on it what makes that so impressive? Anything can match up power wise to a high horse power engine if you slap enough Turbos on it.

Well its looks to me that no matter what anyone says Boss302 will ALWAYS know better, no matter if you use actual facts with personal experience or if its in writing it will be shot down by mister know it all.

I bet if you posted a video he or she would say it was altered in order to prove a point. Boss302 seems to be someone who really enjoys firing off what he or she considers to be the truth. As I found out yesterday.

If we are talking a 1/4 mile drag race between the 6.2L Silverado and the Ecoboost, stock for stock, I want to see the consistency of the two trucks. It doesn't mean a whole lot to a daily driver if I cannot back my truck's speed up time after time in all different ambient temps and elevations. I give the turbos credit, we all know they can run but, we also know that they must stay cool to produce top numbers.

What I would enjoy seeing is the two trucks head to head on a drag strip running them back to back to back. Consistency to me is what matters, not "well mine ran this time once today". I will give credit where credit is due and I'm not too proud to accept defeat when it is eminent but, I'm not surrendering my confidence yet. Give me 3 passes in a row, lining up at the tree together, run the 1/4, then immediately line up at the tree again.

That to me will show who is the winner for a drag race and drag race only.

Better yet, let's compare the torque curves between the 6.2L and the EB.

Which one has more grunt in the RPMs most of use on a regular basis?

i.e. You are yanking a boat up a very steep boat ramp, which truck needs to rev higher to accomplish this task?

I asked this once before and it got ignored, I expect the same thing once again.

You GM fanboys can defend your purchase all you want and hate on the EB (and again, I would not buy one either, i would much rather have a NA V8) but the fact remains that it is a very strong engine...especially based on power/liter.

The Ecoboost is also capable of mid-14's, I have seen reports as low as 14.3, bone stock.

EBs only do 14s now? What happened to the magic 13 second EBs you were so happy to post about a week or two ago?

I saw a timeslip posted for a 13.8 on another forum. My guess is it was modified.

I wish I had the motivation to go back and find the post where I questioned this and you re-affirmed stock EBs were doing 13s. Your credibility is absolutly zero.

It takes awhile (upper rpm) to get the 5.0 pulling, they don't snap off the line from a stock tune too well imo but once they start going, they are strong. Not as strong as the 6.2 however :chevrolet:

Well duh! How does the Ford's 6.2 match up against the GM 6.2...wouldn't that be a better comparison?

I agree 100% but a Troll is a Troll... Ford should make a better transmission, if they did, I would still be in one. What do you drive, NoMoreGM4Me?

the Hemi 5.7L is a 345CI not a 350, and I find it hard to believe you would smoke one, I suspect you are smoking something though..

The Hemi is 390 to your 315 hp, and 490 torque to your 338. There is no way you are smoking them, my guess is they aren't racing because they aren't as stupid as you to be putting everyones life in danger on a public street by trying to show off..

That would actually be 407lb torque per the website. ;-)

i do agree that the stock 5.3 is probably gonna have a hard time keeping up with a stock 5.7 hemi in the 1/4.

But now the 6.2 vs. the 5.7 hemi on the other hand......... :chevrolet:

Yep, all of that is fine and dandy until something breaks on it, and you have to sell a kidney to pay for it to be fixed. There already having problems with it now, so whats it going to be like with high miles on it? Probably a broke down piece of crap that will cost a fortune to fix. Sorry, but I'll keep my 6.2 that is "supposedly" not as good as the EB according to you. At least when it needs rebuilt I won't have to sell my vital organs to pay for it.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. My truck is a 07 GMC Sierra 5.3 bone stock.

Actually I don't need a truck for work. I just like trucks and especially the new generation of GM trucks.

I can't recall that I've ever pushed the engine over 3500 rpm. My years as a "racer" are long gone.

I like GM trucks and V8 engines a lot. So it hurts a little when FORD comes up with a 3.5l and crunching numbers what makes my truck look ike a toy.

But at the end...will a 3.5l outlast a 5.3l? If yes, I bet that I can afford to change the engine on my truck twice before I could afford it on a 3.5l.

so long

j-ten-ner

Oh...sorry for my english...I'm still learning  .
