Gm Answer To Dodge Powerwagon

My friend has a 2006 Dodge powerwagon, and before the bashing starts has anyone seen or been in one of these to see what they can do? The only things he has done is a program, 35" dura-tracks and wired in so he can use the locker in 4 high (a jeep thing). After a few off road trips and a few rescue mission where we used the winch to get others unstuck I started to think...... Ford makes the raptor, Dodge has a powerwagon, GM has a ZR2 concept! CONCEPT!!! Why cant us GM loyals get some heavy off road toys? I just ordered a lift and level kit for my truck, already running 295's (sig picture is way out of date), and have started sketching up some plates to mount a winch behind the front bumper. However I still wont be able to run bigger tires because I dont want to re-gear, dont have a true locker, and I still wont be able to give my friend a good run at "follow the leader". Im not downing my Chevy, but I sure wish GM had a more off road able option that is more stout then the Z-71, which in the last few years has became a "apperiance" package.

Just for counting sake I did have to pull the power wagon out of the mud once, we couldnt clear a corner and the ground was so soft he was not able to turn and get out of his own ruts without having a tree become part of the bed. He opted for the tow rather than body work!

Gm Does not like to be an industry leader, they like to follow what the others do.

ie; PT Cruiser vs HHR, Challenger and Mustang vs Camaro, hell even the original Mustang was out before the Camaro, Raptor vs ??? When is the last time you have seen GM do something first?

GM seems to be very conservative on certain things. eg like what NUKE1 said I totally agree, they seem to wait to see what everyone else puts out.

Also you can't get a GM 6.2 in a RCSB but you can get a Hemi in a RCSB from Dodge and a 6.4 liter 426hp Hemi in a SUV, holy crap that will be the day GM would do something like that.

Don't get me wrong I still like my GM products but release some of those CONCEPTS they keep building instead of storing them away.

I knew I would hear about that, but...

The Corvette originaly started its legacy in 1953 as a lightweight roadster built to compete with the european imports built by companys such as MG and Triumph.

So first as a US built car, but still a reaction to someone else... I agree with 2010LTZ4x4 build some of the concepts, start leading.

I have only ever owned GM's one Oldsmobile and the rest Chevy's. I would love to see a Z?? option to compete with the Raptor.

They probably have done some analysis and it is not cost effective. Not enough would buy them to offset all the upfront costs. Thats why there are aftermarket companies, go build exactly what you want. How are Raptors selling by you? I see them in the auto magazines here original MSRP $56K on sale for 41K. Cool concept just wouldnt draw the necessary sales for a business case.

Power wagon's are a beast of a vehicle they got the 4.56 gears, winch, lockers, and disconnecting sway bar. If they put a Cummins in that it would literally be the perfect truck!

This is supposedly in the making and it comes with the 6.6 dmax!

That is one amazing truck! BUT its probably about the same price as a fully loaded Cadillac Escalade if not more.

No thanks.

raptor= pointless unless you have to drive 65 offroad everyday to get to work

power wagon= same deal, unless you have to drive up the steps of a mountain to get to work its pointless

GM makes trucks aimed at guys that use their trucks for work during the week, and gives them ability to also use their trucks for non work related things on the weekends...i mean in reality, ford F series and rams cover that but the speciality trucks don't have much place in everyday life, the power wagon and raptor both would be more costly with less well rounded usefulness compared to a normal ram or F series...
