Electronic Shock Replacement

OK, on my 04 Sierra I have the electronic shocks. (not the autoride like on the SUVs) It has a button that puts the shocks into a hauling or sport mode that gives a little stiffer ride. These things are like $160 a pop and I was wondering if standard shocks can be installed in their place. In reading the autoride threads, it seems a jumper kit for the wire harness may be available but i really don't know for sure.
