2.5 Leveling Kit And 1.25 Body Lift. Tire Options?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2.5 inch leveling kit with rear block's to add another 1.5 in the rear. I know I can run 285/70/17's with the leveling kit. If I add a rough country 1.25 body lift how much bigger can I go in tire size? anyone running 315/70/17's on stock wheels with no spacers? I like the BFG ko tires but after 285 they jump to 315 in the stock 17 wheel size. they make a 285/75/17 in the mud terrain. but I'm not sure how that tire will work on my daily driver . If I can't get anything bigger than a 33" tire on it's not much point in adding the 1.25 body lift.

33"s are about as big as you can go without hard rubbing until 6" or some BS like that. however of course it is worth going up 1.25 with a body lift. i know my truck looks stupid right now with almost 5" of lift on 31's.

i think stuffing a 33" with just a leveling kit looks rediculous... i like to have a little fender room above my tire. honestly once you throw 33's on with a leveling kit, its just going to have the stock space between the fender and tire. IMO isnt enough.

I'll have to install the leveling kit first I guess and take some measurements. and try one tires for fitment . I don't want them to look over stuffed . but just filled in nice. without any rubbing. I also don't want the tires to stick out passed the body line I figured I could get more than a 33" tire in there easy after the leveling kit and body lift. the stock tires are 31.6" . the clearances I guess are allot different on the GM's. I now the Dodges can run 35's with the same amount of lift.

You can see my setup in my signature below and I will be honest, a 33x12.5 would be close. I think in order for that tire to never rub you would need to trim at least plastic. My nittos run pretty big for a 285 and they fit perfect. Now when I say "fit" I mean at full lock, with a compressed suspension, I do not rub.

EDIT: Look into a 295/70/17 tire too.

I dont have a lot of experience with 17" wheels but my buddy just bought a 2010 sierra with 17" wheels +0 offset and the tires are 285/70/17 and it rubs with a 2 or 2.5" leveling kit. IT rubs pretty good too. He is going to buy a 1.5" body lift in hopes of fixing it.

IT will look nice and proportional too. You cant handle a 33x12.5.. thats what a LOT of guys with 6" suspension lifts run on these trucks. 285/70/17 with 2" level kit and 1.5" body will be just right.

I am also looking at adding the 1.25 lift. Changed out the BDS spacer kit and installed Blistien adjustable shocks - ride alot smoother.

wanted to just add a bit more lift, I just want a mild lift to the truck, don't want to go to high. Have American Racing 18" rims with the stock 265's tires. This pis is with my 17" Firestone Winterforce tires..
