Finished Zone Add-a-leaf

Recommended Posts

i recently ordered my zone add-a-leaf for my 2011 sierra. it arrived at my house within 3 days. it took me two hours to install. i havent taken it for a drive yet, but i did net 1" -1 1/4" of lift, which is how much rake i now have. now its time to save for some 33"s

i know this doesnt belong here but does anyone know how BFG AT's do in the snow?

went to my local Lowes and took some fender measurements. the fronts are 41 1/4 and the rear is 42 1/2. the rear was about 1/2" lower than the front before the AAL's. honestly theres almost too much rake for my liking. im probably going to swap out my 1.25" +1.5" block (2.75") for my 2" block.

the ride of the truck does not suffer at all. might be due to the fact that its an extended cab. my guess is that if it was a reg. cab it would ride rough! IMO

Not that it matters. But, why did you have to go to Lowe's to take fender measurements?

:) i didnt have to go to lowes to take fender measurements. that was the only "flat" parking spot i have been in to take somewhat accurate measurements. my driveway slopes so the truck articulates a little.

i went to lowes because im in the middle of finishing my house and i needed a couple pieces of sheet rock so that the masons could come finish my chimney. i also needed some electrical boxes for telephone wire, and some light boxes.

To answer the OP's question...they do great. I put them on my old '76 years ago had no problems with traction in any terrain, including snow. They were however relatively noisy on the road in that truck (no sound deadening, no sheet metal for that matter :) .) Of course as with anything else, someone will have an opposing opinion. The only reason I didn't get them for the '06 was money at the time. Get them, enjoy them, have a blast.

i dont have a leveling kit. i have RXC 4.75" lift. going on 7K with no problems.

i didnt take any pics, however you will need two jacks, jack stands are a good idea (i dont own any). i have my own pneumatic tools so thankfully the days of knuckle busting are almost non existant. zones directions were great.

I jacked up the rear of the truck off the reese hitch (i had to use a piece of 2x6, and 6x6 for the jack to work.), then i used a smaller jack under the shock to raise and lower the axle. i only did one side at a time.

it is crucial that you disconnect the brake like brackets that the directions tell you to remove otherwise the AAL's will not fit.

really just follow the directions, if you are at all mechanically inclined and have a decent selection of tools i wouldnt hesitate to do it.

you do need two 6" C-clamps to compress the springs
